Futurama: The Impossible Stream (2023)
worth a watch but far too on the nose
Ah Futurama, I'm so happy your back, i grew up with this show, which is why I was a little disappointed by this episode. It had absolutely hilarious moments, but many of the jokes felt a little too *OMG 10 YEARES*, which while enjoyable to watch I don't see it aging too well, because eventually the meta *its been 10 years* jokes wont land anymore and will just be seen as dated.
Don't misunderstand though, I definitely enjoyed this episode and so long as the 10 year jokes don't be the one thing this season is known for, the series will definitely have a long future. Even though i critisied the meta jokes the general topic was fun and interesting and i feel will age well, given the world we live in,
summery
good episode but very on the nose about it being 10 years since an episode.
The Simpsons: Lisa's Belly (2021)
serous tones, a few laughs all around great episode
Im going to go right out and say this episode was amazing, it only had a few laughs but given the serous undertones of the episode i feel that having the amount of laughs was a good decision. There was no "jerk ass homer", which is always a plus, and the episodes overall tone was refreshing after so many years of total garbage.
The message is one that's echoed in many places but I feel its done amazingly.
The episode starts with homer excitedly bringing his kids and marge to a water park eventually going on an old dangerous, discontinued ride where they get sick and need steroids which has the side effect of gaining weight which makes lisa feel bad in regards to her body because marge makes a comment without trying to make her feel bad. Through out the episode people try to cheer her up but your gona have to watch to find out.
