Adapting a show like Avatar to live action, reliant on child characters and tons of visual effects, is a tall task (ask M. Night).
This show manages to pull it off as well as anyone could hope for.
It is a bit more serious/less silly, but still manages to capture much of the charm of the cartoon. All of the major themes are still conveyed, and no characters are butchered. The young actors are usually the downfall of shows like this, but the cast does a good job. The visual effects are downright impressive and the bending looks great. There is even a unique storyline addition that was brilliant.
Compared to the previous attempt to adapt this show, this is a 20/10. I will definitely tune in to a season 2.
