Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
I love the independence
To say it upfront, I'm not the biggest MCU Fan but that's the reason why I loved this movie or in general the trilogy so much. It doesn't feel like the MCU. Some things can be difficult to understand without the MCU knowledge but in general could the trilogy be outside of the MCU, so definitely a recommendation for aswell non-MCU Fans.
Some pros for the movie: It's hilarious - I've never laughed so much in a movie like in this one. Overall I really like the humor in these movies. Another thing what works really well is how the action scenes are choreographed. It's stunning to watch. Another thing the movie makes completely right is the way how it staged to bring this dramatic and sadish flavour to the movie.
On the contra side aren't that much things to mention except for one story arc you will see. Without spoiler I think it's way too easy written. Like in a child movie where everything works just out. But to be honest is that all I can complain about actually.
So I will definitely recommend the movie to everyone who likes science fiction. Even if you don't like the MCU (like me) it's amazing to watch such a movie.
Rosaline (2022)
A modern version of something old
It was different from that what I've seen in the last few months, first I didn't know what I can expect from a movie like this. With the short playing time of 90 minutes, I didn't expect that much story and it was the exact amount of story for the time. No useless stretched story and a clear endpoint. Overall was the story something else, it was modern and fresh but the choice of music was a little bit too modern in my opinion. Another point of my criticism is that acting. I love Kaitlyn Dever and enjoyed her performance in Dopesick. In that movie, she wasn't bad but for me, she felt a little bit misplaced in the role. It didn't fit that well in my opinion. But overall a solid movie you can watch if you need something refreshing.
Passengers (2016)
Inspiring
From all the hate the movie got something was in my eyes really good: the setting. How they used the setting in combination with the story was such amazing to see. The movie don't transport the highest emotions but a movie like this don't have to. For me even the romance was quiet usless, I know it's a bit of character development and the cause why he choose to wake her, but the over romanced scenes: usless. Another chance the movie had skipped out was revealing more of the future. What happened to the people who colonized the planet? I really wanted to see that but overall a pretty solid end. I also want to mention the inspiring part, the moral conflicts he had if he should "destroy" her life by waking her up. What would you do? Also to think of a back story. Which means basically the colonization. There also so many aspects i haven't mentioned like the action and drama parts but they were pretty average so nothing to crazy. But the movie is definitely a experience worth and not that bad some people say.
