Unexpected Encounters (1995 TV Movie)

This film was very interesting. It is an adaption of a Russian book and was filmed in the mid 1990s. There are versions with sub titles available. The set appears at times low budget, and a little corny, but the actors did the best they could with what they had.

I thought the acting was fairly good for such a small project. The boy had a tough role to play, and did it well and convincingly.

I love to watch scifi with my kids. We watch anything from the big name, big budget films, to the strange foreign films like this one. I knew there was nudity in the film and went back and forth about whether I would let my daughter (about the same age as the boy) watch it. I decided to let her and she handled it like a champ. I expected the nudity to be a brief scene, but the boy (about 12 years old) is naked or barely covered the whole film. Everything is visible. It is all completely innocent, though, and my daughter even stopped blushing after the boys 5th appearance! It didn't help that, besides the disheveled hair meant to make him look wild, she thought he really was a handsome young man. Needless to say she paid more attention to this old film than others.
