Poor Things (2023)

I don't know what to say. Mixed feelings
10 March 2024
I will say off the bat. About the time this movie ended I got tired of Emma Stone boyish body and cringe adult scenes.

Way too much of that and really not needed as the movie would be better without it imo.

That said I enjoy the performances of Mark Buffalo, Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, and all the performances in the movie.

Everyone play their parts so we'll and I thought to be an actor and do this type of movie would be interesting. You would have to give it your all.

I don't think this is best movie of the year. But I did find it good. Even if I found lots of scenes too much and over the top.

The cinematography was great. The coloring and black and white sequences wonderful.

Some the themes interesting and presented on a way to make you think.

It was a interesting and fun movie for 80% of the time and it deserves 7 out 10. A high mark for me.

Simply magical!

I am glad this movie broke even. It deserves so much more views because Its simply one of the best musicals I've seen in a while.

And the comedy and story is really good.

Timothee was great and his costars were equally wonderful.

The singing and the dancing all top notch. Everyone did a great job.

The scenes look gorgeous and you can see the actors, writers, and director really wanted to do the story justice which they did.

I can't say anything bad about as the time flew by and it put a smile on my face which I wasn't expecting.

Take your kids or yourself and have fun. I highly recommend it.

I enjoy it!
15 January 2024
I think many wanted to hate this for obvious reasons but I could not.

I am not a big Hunger Games fan. Never read the books. Didn't enjoys everything about the movies before..

Except the performances and story as a whole of the Hunger Games world.

I will say this movie performances, especially who plays Snow, Viola Davis, and Peter Dinklage was great! The main lady Rachel was pretty good too. Her role was interesting.

Let's talk about Lucy Grey. I don't know this character or how much she plays in the books. But it seems from the movie standpoint, she was a free bird. Someone who just wanted to be free to be themselves.

She didn't want to be part of the HG and was tricked. So I get why she was confused by everyone motivation.

Going to talk about Snow. It was good to see how his character changed little by little. A young man with a legacy, really scared to admit who and what his family is about. And his own motivation to be more. Not wishing at first to offend. But gradually doing so and so much more.

His turn was interesting and would had made for a better series on streaming than the movie. Great performance.

Since this is Hunger Games, I will say the fights were really good. Not overstated because doing the time of this HG, technology was just coming up. No elaborate computers and stuff.

The tech still have issues and created problems.

Also I loved where the mentors themselves was allowed to send things, of course due to sponsors.

The arena was too big, more self contained. Which made the fights interesting.

For those who afraid this movie might not be violent enough... well you are in for a surprise. This movie is more violent than the previous installment. Way more.

Again, very good movie for me. I think it helps that not everyone in the cast is super famous aka Jennifer Lawrence. Sure you have Peter, Viola, and others who might be famous but not on Jennifer level imo

8//10. Solid movie.

Wow! so deserving of a 10 and the lead actress is incredible
25 December 2023
I do hope we see more from the lead actress in the future. Not only do she has the acting chops but she is jacked and quite beautiful.

Marvel, DC cast her in one of your movies. You won't regret it.

Anyways the movie is about a woman who is messed up from the disappearance of her sister. We are shown the turmoil and emotional toll on herself and mom.

Later we see what the sister is willing to do to find her younger sister. Part of the movie shows human trafficking and perhaps how Native women are targeted as well.

I won't tell everything. Because this movie moves and the pacing is great and the scenes are never boring. Its a movie that you will watch because its so interesting and there is some action and lots of unexpected twists that's not outrageous and so vital to the movie.

I highly recommend this movie. I watch it with my family and a nitpicky family member and he was engross with the movie as well.

10/10 great movie.

I barely made it half hour in ...
25 December 2023
And my score reflect that. I was looking for to seeing this with my niece for the hollywood but it's clear the adaption of the children books are lost.

Looking at the cast, I sense the money was given to the major stars like Kidman and Daniel Craig. Speaking of which, Kidman looks beautiful. Very stunning. So stunning in fact, I wounder if she was just paid for that reason alone.

I never seen an actor/actress who read their lines with little to no emotions and made it seemed like they were the main character.

What I found interesting was how there was a broken wine glass in the middle of the floor and no one noticed. Literally, it meant people was sitting /standing on broken glass.

The cgi characters was horribly rendered and the voices weren't that great.

Bless those who made it all the way through but I stop once Kidman started yelling embarrassingly at the young girl.

I had enough and bailed.

Magnificent!!! 9/10
25 December 2023
Olivia Coleman is one of the best actresses around. And this cements her if anyone has any questions.

Wow her performance is outstanding. And She looks so beautiful.

She gives a masterful lesson in acting. She conveys a woman who suffering from a form of mental illness and who has her ups and downs.

And she meets a young brit man who helps her live and be herself. And she helps him become more confidence and not feel inferior to others.

They bond and form a strong friendship and relationship and also become lovers, despite what society might think.

It so much more than I'm able to describe but I recommend it.

Filmed/directed by Sam Mendes. Cinematography by Roger Deakins. And with a brilliant cast including Colin Firth and Micheal Ward.

So much potential but didn't quite make it
24 December 2023
This review will be short. It's a sci-fi plot that we all seen or haven't seen before.

It's about a AI robot of sorts with a humanity pause. It's powerful, curious, and something else, which is a spoiler.

Of course there's a fight between factions to find and acquire the robot, or destroy it, or use it.

There are some good sfx scenes and some good lines but nothing that stands out.

John David Washington plays a a merc who was paid to find and destroy the machine but instead uses it to find his wife.... and also find himself feeling attach to the robot.

I wish it was a better movie but its not. It's typical and not enough good scenes to stand out. 6/10.

I really enjoyed it
24 December 2023
And seen it multiple times. I was laughing a lot throughout the movie.

I felt the ladies had amazing chemistry and their scenes were so funny.

The story is basically about friends, college mates who believe in the supernatural and they come together to capture ghosts for fame.

I think if you know the original GB movie than you won't be lost. The sfx is really good and it's cleaner than the original. There's also cameos and the plot of this one is not overly complicated.

I've watched many times and by far the funniest characters to me is the blonde with the glasses and the african american lady. Very funny.

I think the toxicity and venom towards the cast and movie is way over-wrought and unnecessary. That's when I knew some was giving this a fair chance. And even tried to review bomb it.

Anyways, whether you watch or not, and can't make up your mind, at least this was good for me.

Really good! Elba is great! SPOILERS!!!
10 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Its very international. And everyone does pretty good, with Mr. Elba just being fantastic. His character is acting just like most films of this and...and yet he isn't. You just have to see it tp understand what I mean.

I won't try to spoil it but I think certain characters are due for a spanking and I hope they get it.

If I had one complaint is one character is gone too soon.

And another overstays --which is the "ex-wife". It seems in everything Mr. Elba does there is an "ex".

I wish WISH they stop doing that to him.

Its always the boring part for me and adds nothing imo.

Anyways great show so far.

Interesting but could've been better
5 March 2023
Very interesting movie. I admit I had to used wiki to know what's going on.

I watch this on Tubi and I admit it was indeed a unexpected movie with different surprises.

It became clear when the kid appeared and the mom kept asking if he killed his girlfriend was the biggest clue. The opening had me on edge and I was expecting a "die and keep repeating your death" until you can break the cycle. What's here is different somewhat. The guy is weird and his upbringing made him a weirdo basically. I get it. But you kinda get tired of these types of Korean films. Sometimes its ok to show a screw up life and happiness. In the end the idea was there but I think the murderous angle wasn't needed.

Wow Showtime just cancelled a great series!
30 January 2023
Unbelievable. This series could had easily gone 3 or more seasons. I am sad. What a lost. The cast was great. The set up was there and it was ready to go. Not an expensive show to make. But streaming doesn't want to nurture shows anymore. They want ratings his out the gate. As someone said if Star trek The next generation was on streaming, it would most likely had gotten cancelled. We know Voyager and Babylon 5 too.

Its hard to tell people to watch this show now after that cliffhanger but its a good series. I'm glad I had a chance to watch it and so did others. Showtimes just is lost at this point. And they lost a subscriber. I immediately unsub when I heard this news. Let The Right One In, ya'll!

Not bad a slow episode as if season 1 came back.
29 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I found this episode to be painfully slow with some sparks of excitement in various scenes. I am not certain I will reach the threshold of 500-600 characters require to write a review. The episode was really slow and I love slow burns... but I will say the stuff with Big Mo is exciting and the actress is great. I will say Hope Davis is not only a great actress but she is a beauty. Her performance has been very very good this. As has Michael Stuhlbarg and Isiah Whitlock Jr. The cast is perfect and it's sometimes the writing that lets them down. I already seen ep 13 AND it's good. So Your Honor continue to be a good slow burn series.

And Isaiah and I get that it's setting things up but th.

Well...that was satisfying
16 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I won't spoil things but I will say as good as Bryan Cranston performance was, so was everyone else.

Except maybe, Baxter son. But the tension was thick and Bryan Canston in mourning and looking and walking old was good. As for his son, I didn't even notice he was gone.

Love the new character of Big Mo. What a lady. And Rosie Perez. In fact, looks like the ladies on this show are no joke.

This episodes was exciting and intriguing. If Season 2 can keep up the pace like this, it should make for a great season.

Last season was ok but this looks to be a major improvement and I do like the New Orleans backdrop.

'Kids just wanna have fun' should be the title of this episode
29 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It a episode of Eleanor and Isaiah having fun and secrets being reveal.

But before that. Mark, Eleanor father, has memories of happily attending church with his family. But it turn nightmarish because he dreams that his daughter, Eleanor is drinking blood in church. Weird and creepy. She was going in on that blood lol

Going back to the kids, Eleanor is doing things that catches Isaiah attention but he's just too worried about his bullies. So Eleanor suggest they sneak out for fun. They go to magic show and see different magicians perform magic.

One particular magician makes Eleanor think about her mom, so before going home she suggest a little sidetrack someplace else--her previous home.

Back to Mark, he is given celebrated as a chief by Zeke and a celebration at the restaurant happens there as well. But it makes Mark feels guilty about enjoying it and Eleanor cannot. He decides to go home but a man shows up to threaten him and Zeke.

Anyway in this ep, we find out again that Eleanor isn't who she said she is. And again Isaiah notices some weird things about her.

This lead to the ending of the ep, with answers and revelations blowing Isaiah mind. Also, we are left with seeing Mark and Zeke in trouble.

Another good ep.

Omg did this episode kick b*** Insane! 10/10
6 December 2022
From the ending of the last episode to the beginning of this episode. This was beyond insane. The atmosphere was thick, suspenseful, and crazy. It had it quiet lovely moments between Eleanor and Isaiah which was so sweet, but when the action started kicking in you were glue to your seat! The actress who plays Eleanor delivered and did so much this episode you almost can't believe how young the actress is in real life. She is a magnificent and brilliant in her acting and line delivery. And the writing and direction was great. It was easily one of the best episodes of this series , where many episodes are already good. I highly recommend this series abs and I super recommend this episode!

If I could give this movie zero stars...
26 November 2022
Terrible terrible terrible terrible. I will say the young girl has a fantastic body but the rest is garbage. Characters do illogical things. The acting is trash. The performances are trash. It's not scary. It's not funny. It's horribly directed. It's a super bad movie on all levels. It's film as if someone didn't know electric was a thing. It was worse than any school play on kindergarten level. It makes no sense and it's like plots. There's zero chemistry among the cast and you will not believe anyone is related. But as I said the young girl is pretty hot . So just forget this terrible movie exist and have a good Thanksgiving instead.

A 10/10 episode. So much happiness before that fateful night..
20 November 2022
This episode was simply marvelous!

This Ellie origin story and it did not disappoint! From seeing the family so happy to seeing the family struggling with what happening... and to it's eventual tragic ending.

All the nuances from the previous episodes come into play and it's mind boggling what this series has setup so far. I can't spoil it but this is the episode that will break your heart. You will come to understand Mark(the father) commitment and Ellie sadness of losing her childhood. You will see just how devoted mom and dad were to their child, especially mom. The actress who played the mom was great. This was an emmy worthy imo. Can't wait to see what more this series has in store.

Brilliant episode with a twist.
7 November 2022
The show was already good. But this epiosde really add a twist that no could see coming. What it means is unclear, but it already means things have just been turned up a notch.

Top acting by the cast and the young actor. The actress playing Elenora/Ellie pour her heart out in this episode and gave you a glimpse of why friendship and family is so important to her. She feels so alone with it,

And the other kid, Isiah is not your typical kid who thinks having a strange friend is exciting at first. It's terrifying to him. And he wants to be friends but he scared.

The father Mark is just so guilt ridden about the killings and yet doing everything he can to keep his family secret, help his daughter, and find a cure. One of the best performances on the show.

The mother/cop is searching to find the real reasons to all the homicides and find her ex. All the while trying to be a mom. It's a tough balancing act.

Claire without giving away this week episode. Wow what a turn around for character. I wonder how much she going that rabbit hole for her brother? Or for herself.

10/10 this was a great episode.

Let the Right One In: Broken Glass (2022)

Very scary episode. Showtime has another good series on deck.
28 October 2022
Trying to remain spoiler free but this episode was scary af. Sewers scenes, tunnel scenes will always deliver the scares because it close corners and you can't see anything or everything in front of you. The filming of this scene was great.

And now that I know Ellie's age this makes the story even more tragic and sad when Ellie's piss... she ramps it up. Even surprising her father.

The actors are doing a great job and it's clear this show is not the book or original series so no one has to get their knockers wound up and can enjoy the show for what it is. Very solid episode.

Next week looks great too.

Second Ep of the season and things got interesting quick!
18 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Update: If you missed the first ep, the recap at the beginning for 6-10 secs give you a quick reminder.

It pick up right where the 1st ep ends. Mark is feeling guilty about Isaiah dad. Of course, he didn't know nor cared. He just wanted to feed his daughter.

We see how Mark dispose of bodies and its rather gruesome to say the least.

Eleanor is unaware and cooking breakfast and Isaiah is desperately looking to make friends. It here where we see more of his school life. And if the first ep didn't tell you how's he's an outcast then this introduces his bullies. Seem the kid can't get a break.

In the ep there are scenes where you see what vampires are capable of. Speed and Invites. You have to invite them in. From the movie we know why.

So far this series is good and makes you want to see the next episodes. It's giving you little bits of information as to what the cure is and how can it be found. Can't wait for next episode.
