A Murder at the End of the World (2023)
Attention Grabbing
So far 2 episodes in this is a very clever series however it is definitely already is reminding me of a twist on my favorite book by Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None. I really hope they are not going in that direction as it's been done many times before where the person you least expect is the one who did it. I am definitely sticking with it. I do feel it could move along a little faster. Scenery beautiful adds to the mystery. Technology really cool. All the actors are good and it was exciting to see Raul Esparza back in action (he was great in Hannibal). Hoping this doesn't end in this being an experiment in the human condition.
Ragnarok: Ragnarok (2023)
WE'VE BEEN DOWN THIS ROAD BEFORE
I am going to stand by my 7 since the series as a whole was really good. Let's talk about the last scene. It was great storytelling going from what Magne was seeing in his head vs what was really happening. HOWEVER have any of these writers heard of A Beautiful Mind?! Been there, done that and it was one of a kind. No need to repeat it in this series so for that I am HIGHLY disappointed. Is there anyone out there with an original, incredible idea that can blow away a viewing audience?! PLEASE someone come forward! All of the actors did a great job and it is definitely worth watching. As an American I really do love foreign language tv shows. I was really looking forward to a modern day Ragnarok and how they would film an actual battle. Thanks, anyway.
Beautiful Disaster (2023)
A complete disaster in the worst sense
If I could give this zero stars I would. What a joke of a movie from a book adaptation that was decent. Virginia Gardner was absolutely horrible and the rest of the cast was close behind. I blame the director for not knowing anything about directing and the screenplay was a disaster (not a beautiful one AT ALL). I never finished watching it was that painful. I don't even think I've ever not finished a movie. Hulu has really been showing terrible content lately and needs to up their game to APPLETV standards. It's really unfortunate when you enjoy a book and see it played out on the screen in disappointing way.
The Consultant (2023)
Christoph can play anyone brilliantly!
Christoph Waltz can do anything! I'm giving this a 10 because it's unlike anything out there just like Severance. Were parts funny? Yes. Over the line? Yes. Sad? Yes? Tragic? Yes. Scary? Definitely. The only thing you will remember about this show is Christoph's acting genius. He's so natural in every part he plays it's almost like he's not acting. I could tell from trailers we were not going to get an Emmy award winning series here but it was entertaining to the part of being ridiculous and that's ok because it's not real life. I am looking forward to more original content from Amazon and more Christoph no matter what streaming app he's on!
New Amsterdam: Falling (2023)
Worst season ever
Such a disappointing ending to a really great show. Im sure the finale will not be much better and these are great actors. The writing this year was far below the standards of previous seasons. The Max/Helen story should have played out with them ending up together. There could have been a way to make it so even if Freema was leaving the series. She showed up tonight so it could have been worked in. The writers had the fans invested for 4 seasons and rooting for them then abruptly ended it. Now all of a sudden he's in love with someone else. It was a terrible way to end a series. I look forward to seeing Ryan in a new series.
My Unorthodox Life (2021)
A bunch of freeloaders!
I don't dislike Julia. Is she eccentric and sometimes showy? Yes. But she loves and adores her children. I don't know the real reasons why her marriage failed, 2 sides to every story and this show will only tell her point of view but from the show you see why Silvio was fed up. Her kids with exception of Aron are selfish and all sponge off her, Steven's boyfriend freeloads off him and is looking for 15min of fame. He just needs to get rid of that guy. It's also very scripted. They all are all very spoiled and with all they have charities are never mentioned. Just constant shopping. The Kardashians are just as bad if not worse.
Vatican Girl: The Disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi (2022)
Netflix STOP DRAGGING OUT DOCUMENTARIES!
I gave up after the end of episode 1. Complete nonsense filled in (telephones ringing for effect, old film reels going back and forth that made me want to turn it off, traffic going by Vatican City, old news reports we didn't need and so much more we don't need, etc). The viewing public is not stupid and doesn't need fluff. Just interview the people involved and GET TO THE POINT. It's a shame for the Orlandi family because instead of holding our attention, Netflix did them a great disservice by dragging it out. I'll Google the rest of the story and save myself 3 hours. Learn from these reviews and PLEASE do better in the future for the next one.
