Zontar: The Thing from Venus (1967)
Low budget Saturday afternoon Sci Fi. fun.
Low budget Saturday afternoon Sci Fi. fun. A scientist communicates with the bizarre Zontar believing that he (it) will be beneficial to mankind! Zontar lands on Earth and hides in a cave with the intent to control the populace with parasitic batlike sentries that detach from his body and attach themselves to victims. Sure it's cheap, but the dialog is fun, and Zontar's costume is not to be missed! If you are looking for a high class production you are missing the fun! This is what makes these movies such treasures! This is Larry Buchanan's remake of "It Conquered the World"(there was no first version of Zontar) Larry also remade "Invasion of the Saucer People" as "The Eye Creatures."
The Eye Creatures (1967)
Vintage Sci-Fi fun!
Too many people are over critical of low budget films. "The Eye Creatures" concerns the age old plot of a group of teenagers battling more aliens from space! The basic elements; a model spaceship, aliens (men in rubber bubble suits with eyes all over), government agents, angry drunk farmers, making out in Lovers Lane, teens in distress (who no one believes-of course), and a big showdown, make this cheap movie so entertaining! Sort of like Happy Days with monsters! It will never win an award, but it was never intended to anyway! This is Larry Buchanan's remake of "Invasion of The Saucermen." Also see Zontar Thing From Venus!
The Horror of Party Beach (1964)
This is one of the most memorable films from my childhood!
This is one of the most memorable films from my childhood. As the beach party teens dance and sing (doing "The Zombie Stomp"), offshore a chemical spill re-animates a skeleton at the bottom of the sea into gill man (yes with hot dog looking protrusions from the mouth) and the creatures go on a killing spree! Some of the scenes are so dark it's hard to determine what is happening! See the monsters attack a girls' slumber party, see nice hair hopping chicks with a flat tire fall victims to the atomic beasts, see mother nature strike back at sinful beach teens! Some generally fun dialog, similar to Waters movie that you will surely quote!
Psyched by the 4D Witch (A Tale of Demonology) (1973)
This is one of the weirdest movies you will ever see!
This is one of the weirdest movies you will ever see. A young college girl dabbles in "sexual witchcraft" (whatever that is?) and becomes possessed by her witch ancestor from psychic realm! This movie is a collage of dubbed over live action scenes inter mixed with shots of masked women, snake puppets, planetarium laser shows, palm trees, solar system footage, and a variety of other narrated psychedelic nonsense.Think Thrill Kill Kult video! You have to see it to believe it. It even has a gritty seventies rock theme "Beware of the 4-D Witch."
Night of the Witches (1970)
Low budget atmospheric sexy seventies horror!
Night of the Witches is a psychedelic seventies horror movie with some pretty interesting moments! A coven of witches lead by a woman named Cassandra, living in a cliffside mansion in California, sacrifice unsuspecting wanders based on what the zodiac decrees! Plenty of Bond Girl outfits and scantily clad witches! Despite a few "Keystone Cop" chase scenes, this low budget film delivers incredible atmosphere and some gritty guitar songs! Fans of the psychedelic drive in movie era will scream in delight! Think along the lines of "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things!"
