Kôdo Giasu: Hangyaku no Rurûshu (2006)
Meh..
If you like action driven shows, that don't circle around the plot, Gode Geass is just perfect for you. It undoubtedly doesn't drag the plotline and has a fast pace. And there is a good reason everyone loves its finale me included. It was unique and memorable and I think that was my favourite part of the entire show. As a whole, though, it just didn't do the trick for me. It was okay to spend my time, but it wasn't something that special I would go back and watch again. For one I didn't relate to any of the characters. In fact I would go as far as to say that I didn't like any of them. They didn't stand out at all. They were just there. Very flat personalities. The story wasn't bad, but it was fine. Nothing super exciting, nothing terrible either. If I hated one thing thaat was the general art style of the show, but that has to do with preference I guess..
Hagane no renkinjutsushi (2003)
Masterpiece
If there is one show that can be called a masterpiece it's this one. How people just skip it and jump into brotherhood is beyond me. The 2003 series is great from all aspects. Story, plotline, music, direction, colours, animation, characters, depth, morals, action, comedy, everything you're looking for is there. Even if it doesn't follow the manga all the way through, it's a personal preference, but for me the route the story took in the anime is better. It has a realism and a darkness that makes it all more worth to watch. It may not be for someone who enjoys action driven shows, cause fma invests a lot on character development. For me it's a show definitely worth of checking out and I highly recommend it.
Jujutsu Kaisen (2020)
Overrated.
I don't get what the fuss is all about. Before watching this show I was hearing from everybody just how amazing it is, but I honestly don't see it. It started with an interesting plotline I have to admit, but soon took the downhill for me. I don't say it's bad, but it's really mediocre. The characters themselves don't standout aside from some that don't even belong to the main protagonists. The powers are fine, but nothing special and personally I had a hard time processing how they work since the show was throwing all the info in one go, but maybe this just a me thing. Overall it was a fine show to spend your time, but nothing super exciting or worth rewatching..
Darker Than Black: Kuro no keiyakusha (2007)
Worth of giving it a chance
What really won me over in this anime is the main protagonist, Hei. I would go that far and say that he is one of my favourite protagonists of all the anime I've seen. I've read reviews of people describing him as a flat character, but in my opinion he's a very complex and mysterious being, that you really want to learn more about. The show follows the same logic with Cowboy Bebop and doesn't give you much information about him or the other cast members, but chooses a few specific episodes to reveal more about them and their past. You might feel confused cause you're gonna be keep in the dark for the most part, but I guarantee you will enjoy the episodes either way. A bonus of this show is the music. There are a few tracks that I'm certain will hit you in the feels and get stuck into your head for days.. It's a show that I can easily say that I want to rewatch, so something right must have been done on that part.
For me, the drawback of the show was that I didn't get enough. I felt there was so much story that could have been told and left unsaid.. Also the second season, while good, paled in comparison with the first one. It had a different vibe and the protagonist became a supporting character, which was disappointing for me, cause I was really attached to his character and I was expecting for the sequel to be mainly focused on him again. Still we get development on his character, but personally I wouldn't mind if the series stopped at the first season. It doesn't feel incomplete and it can stand as show on its own.
