Beautiful cinematography let down by the script
6 June 2023
Clearly a lot of hard work went into filming this series, really wish the script writing moved on from ascribing human stereotypes onto wild African chimps. Science has moved on, humans have moved on - we can handle nuance and complexity. Why go to all the trouble and expense to film wild animals when they are just turned into cartoon characters. A troop of 120 members is extraordinary, one male chimp could not have be "the alpha" without a complex support structure of negotiations with " female alphas" and other males. Gladiatorial battles and hunting - check. What happens the other 95% of time to keep to troupe together we will never know.

Perfect for the family
14 December 2022
Wow, the beautiful cinematography makes this a lovely documentary the whole family can watch. Highly recommend it for holiday viewing. There are lots of animal behaviors I have never seen on screen before of Australian animals, especially the Black Mountain dingos and how they hunt to survive. It is not only about one Kangaroo family but a whole cast of animals that live in the valley. Bossy wombats, smart birds, bioluminescent quolls! The narration by Sarah Snook (Succession), the editing, and the music are all really exceptional. It takes you on quite a trip. It is dramatic in that beautiful little valley!
