Da xia Huo Yuanjia (2020)
Thoroughly enjoying the series.
I loved the show's era settings and costumes. The acting is quite solid and oftentimes excellent. And the martial arts scenes to me feel superbly done.
The show has great overall presentation and is very well done.
The only downside I can mention is the amount of problems the writers create for the main character feels forced and unnatural. There are a times where you just wish the main character, his family, and you the viewer had a few more moments of peace.
But everything else is really well done and nothing has slowed me from watching episodes one after the next.
The show, beyond the above writing 'flaw' I mentioned, is gripping and vastly more engaging for me than most TV shows.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Slipping Big Time in Season 3
As a Star Wars fan since seeing the first movie in the theaters in the 70s, I thoroughly enjoyed seasons 1 and 2. Season 3, however, is rapidly falling off a cliff. Episodes 1 and 3, in particular, were horribly written and filled with garbage filler. Remove pointless fight scenes from Season 3, Episode 1 and you're left with maybe a 6 minute show. And Season 3, Episode 3 was even worse. Two parties get arrested. Both in the same relative position but only 1 can offer an explanation. The other awakens strapped down and has no say. The knob guy leaves the room, leaving the former bad guy alone, so the other former bad guy can have his brain fried. Seriously? And how far into the future and the device that has the power to fry a brain has no camera on it while the former evil axis person has full access to it. This is astoundingly bad and was, frankly, boring and poorly acted on top of it. I gave the show an 8 on merit of really liking the first two seasons. I truly hope it finds its way in Season 3 and doesn't become unwatchable.
