Seven Samurai
19 April 2024
Seven mercenary samurai on a Dune are Universal Soldiers preparing for the War of the Stars against the Resident Evils that are Nazi zombies. They run like Blades Runners, they are like Michel Strogoff, the Robot cops from Death on their heels to finally face it: it's the Clash of the Titans, the Wild Wild West. Because in the end, all of this, in the imagination from Homer to Zack Snyder, is just one for all and all for one, a beautiful place to die.

"I Know a thing or two about the guilt of carrying on when those you've sworn to fight with are gone. Honor them with everything you can from now. Carry them."

What is suffering (dukkha)?

Life presents challenges and difficulties, both physically and emotionally.

These challenges can evoke feelings of pain, sadness, or dissatisfaction.

If challenges can cause feelings of pain and sadness, then they are sources of suffering.

Thus, life's challenges are a source of suffering.

Suffering extends beyond mere physical discomfort to include emotional and existential struggles.

If suffering encompasses emotional and existential struggles, then it requires a deeper understanding.

By recognizing suffering, we can begin to understand its causes and seek solutions.

Therefore, understanding the causes of suffering is essential to finding solutions and achieving inner peace.

How to understand the causes of suffering?

To better understand suffering, it is possible to do several simple things:

Carefully observe feelings and experiences.

Offer perspectives on suffering through Buddhist teachings.

Share feelings with others to get advice.

Take moments of calm reflection to understand emotions.

Encourage kindness towards oneself and others.

Following these practices helps achieve a better understanding of suffering and how to overcome it.

But apparently, this is not the path Joe has chosen...

In the land of milk and honey
23 March 2024
In the land of milk and honey, a song resounds, Where love and peace are the only crowns.

But shadows extend, the wind carries the echo, Of those who seek to sow chaos in their tableau.

Waves of terror strike indiscriminately, Attempting to extinguish the light in this firmament.

Yet, the hearts of the land beat in unison, Defending their land with passion.

In the golden fields where the bees dance, Echo prayers, songs, and wonders.

Arms link together, forming a shield of hope, Against the darkness, against despair.

Children smile despite the looming fear, Their innocence a bulwark to defend and found.

For in the land of milk and honey, life is a treasure, Worth far more than all speeches of death.

They stand tall, strong in their resistance, Armed with courage, love, and persistence.

For in this blessed land where milk flows freely, Unity is their strength, their greatest rampart.

And when the day succeeds the long, dark night, The land of milk and honey is reborn in its glory.

Proudly, it waves its banner, a symbol of liberty, Winning the battle against the darkness.

Cyberterror
17 February 2024
In the infernal depths of cybernetics, a dark conspiracy hatched by sinister forces manages to infiltrate the depths of networks and computers across the country. Like a roar of flames from Hell, a digital storm descends, ruthlessly ravaging everything in its path, consuming the foundations of modern civilization in a whirlwind of chaos and desolation.

The lights go out, the waters dry up, the gears of progress come to a halt. The ordinary citizen finds themselves plunged into eternal darkness, powerless against the creeping darkness that engulfs the jewels of their daily life.

The most intimate secrets, like the damned prisoners of Hell, are stolen or erased. It's as if the demons themselves, fueled by infernal lust, invade the homes of mortals to seize their most precious treasures.

Markets collapse, the fortresses of commerce are reduced to ashes. The echoes of despair resound as the ordinary citizen, abandoned to their fate, struggles for survival in a world now devoid of the most basic necessities.

Sinister forces unleash havoc, sowing destruction and despair in their wake. The pillars of society, nuclear power plants and chemical factories, tremble under the onslaught of darkness, threatening to engulf innocent souls in an ocean of torment.

Lies and deceit, like the whispers of demons, spread through the labyrinth of cyberspace. The minds of mortals are ensnared by diabolical illusions, leading them to ruin and desolation.

To protect themselves, governments and the powerful of this world must mobilize their legions and deploy their treasures to erect impenetrable ramparts against the hordes of darkness. But even then, the flicker of hope wavers before the relentless threat looming over the world of the living.

Thus, in this postmodern tragedy, a massive cyberattack emerges as the ultimate scourge, threatening to engulf the ordinary citizen in an abyss of destruction and despair. Only vigilance and determination can offer a fragile respite against the infernal forces lurking in the depths of cyberspace.

Life lessons from Mr. Hulk
14 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Here are the life lessons drawn from the Hulk experience according to Lou Ferrigno: 1. Embrace Fear: Fear is either present or absent. If it is present, then confidence is absent. By confronting fear and taking action, fear becomes absent and confidence becomes present.

2. Self-Confidence: One is either competing with the world or not. If one is competing with the world, then self-confidence is absent. By forgetting competition with the world, competition becomes absent and self-confidence becomes present.

3. Elimination of Negativity: Negative people are either present or absent. If they are present, then freedom of action is absent. By distancing oneself from negative people, they become absent and freedom of action becomes present.

4. Maximization of Personal Power: The mind and body either work together in harmony or they do not. If one eats well, rests, and takes care of one's body, then imbalance becomes absent and harmony becomes present.

This is the basis of yin-yang which is the basis of the cosmogony of the middle. Then we can take an interest in the author referred to in the page turned in the opposite language. This mathematician indeed developed spherical astronomy to an advanced level which was used in the elaboration of the Alphonsine Tables. The "state of fear"
19 August 2023
The "state of fear" refers to a psychological and emotional condition where an individual or a group experiences intense feelings of worry, concern, or apprehension.

This state can be triggered by real or perceived threats, dangers, or uncertainties.

It can have various effects on a person's behavior, thoughts, and overall well-being, often leading to heightened stress, anxiety, and a sense of vulnerability.

The state of fear can be temporary or prolonged, depending on the situation and the individual's coping mechanisms.

It arises when a person perceives a threat, whether real or imagined, that triggers a physiological and psychological response known as the "fight or flight" response.

This response is an evolutionary mechanism designed to help humans respond quickly to potentially dangerous situations.

In many cases, fear is a natural and adaptive response.

It helps humans stay safe by alerting them to potential dangers and encouraging them to take necessary precautions.

However, when fear becomes overwhelming or irrational, it can lead to significant distress and impairment.

In the context of society and politics, the manipulation of fear is a powerful tool that can be used to influence public opinion and behavior.

This phenomenon is often referred to as "fearmongering," where individuals or groups exploit people's fears for political, social, or economic gain.

Addressing the state of fear requires a multifaceted approach.

Education, critical thinking, and media literacy can help individuals differentiate between legitimate threats and exaggerated ones.

Developing healthy coping mechanisms, such as mindfulness and stress management techniques, can also mitigate the negative effects of fear.

How to solve the "state of fear" in 8 points: 1. Perception of Threat: Fear emerges when there's a sensed danger, whether real or imagined.

Solution: Develop critical thinking skills to assess the validity of perceived threats and differentiate between real and imagined dangers.

2. Fight or Flight: The body's "fight or flight" response activates, releasing stress hormones.

Solution: Practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing and mindfulness to counter the physiological effects of the "fight or flight" response.

3. Emotional and Physical Reactions: Fear triggers anxiety, unease, and physical changes like increased heart rate.

Solution: Cultivate emotional intelligence and self-awareness to recognize and manage emotional and physical responses effectively.

4. Varied Responses: Responses to fear differ among individuals and situations.

Solution: Foster empathy and understanding towards diverse responses to fear, promoting tolerance and mutual support.

5. Real and Perceived Threats: Fear arises from real-world dangers and perceived risks.

Solution: Seek accurate information and education to distinguish between actual threats and irrational fears.

6. Protection Mechanism: Fear prompts precautions for safety and avoidance of harm.

Solution: Develop a balanced approach, taking reasonable precautions while avoiding excessive avoidance behaviors that hinder personal growth.

7. Impact and Coping: Excessive fear can harm mental health, but coping strategies and support help manage it.

Solution: Engage in stress-reduction activities such as exercise, meditation, and seeking professional help when excessive fear affects mental health.

8. Balancing and Understanding: Finding a balance between fear's protective role and its impact is crucial for well-being and understanding human behavior.

Solution: Foster a comprehensive understanding of fear's evolutionary purpose while acknowledging its potential downsides, aiming for a healthy equilibrium.

Remember, fear is a natural response, but its effects can be managed for a healthier life.

The solutions proposed here encourage awareness, education, and proactive steps to address the challenges posed by fear in various aspects of life.

a message from the Pearl of the Orient to the Middle Kingdom
16 August 2023
The desire to be the strongest or to be the number one is often referred to as the "spirit of competition" or "desire for competition." It's a strong motivation that pushes individuals to excel and surpass others in various fields such as sports, studies, business, and other competitive domains.

This willingness can stem from various factors, including personal ambition, the need for recognition, the desire for success, and a competitive nature.

Individuals with a strong competitive spirit often set high goals for themselves and work tirelessly to achieve them.

These individuals excel in challenges and use competition as a means to push their limits and achieve their best performances.

This desire to be the strongest or the best can be a powerful force that fuels determination, hard work, and continuous self-improvement.

However, while a competitive spirit can lead to significant accomplishments, it must also be balanced with sportsmanship, respect for others, and a healthy approach to competition.

Placing too much emphasis on winning at all costs can result in negative outcomes and toxic relationships.

The key is to find a healthy balance between competitiveness and cooperation.

May the desire to be the best doesn't overshadow other important values and qualities.

This is the message from the Pearl of the Orient to the Middle Kingdom.

about ethical and moral dilemmas in extreme situations
12 August 2023
"28 Weeks Later" delves into themes of fear, desperation, and the human struggle for survival in the face of overwhelming odds. It examines the ethical and moral dilemmas that arise in extreme situations, particularly the choices individuals and authorities make to protect themselves and their loved ones.

In effect, in extreme situations, ethical and moral dilemmas can arise due to the challenging circumstances and difficult decisions individuals are forced to make. Some common dilemmas include: 1. Life and Death: Situations may arise where individuals have to choose who lives and who dies. This can be especially challenging when resources are scarce, and tough choices need to be made about who receives medical treatment, food, or shelter.

2. Utilitarianism vs. Individual Rights: Balancing the greater good of a group against the rights and well-being of individuals can be complex. For instance, sacrificing the few for the benefit of the many raises questions about the value of individual lives.

3. Truthfulness: In extreme situations, individuals may face dilemmas about whether to tell the truth or withhold information to prevent panic or maintain order. This raises questions about honesty and the potential consequences of sharing or hiding information.

4. Property and Ownership: Scarcity can lead to disputes over resources like food, water, and shelter. Deciding who has a right to these resources and how they are distributed can challenge notions of property and fairness.

5. Self-Preservation: Extreme situations can lead individuals to prioritize their own survival over others'. This raises questions about the ethics of self-preservation at the expense of cooperation and solidarity.

6. Collaboration and Betrayal: Choosing whether to collaborate with others or betray them to ensure one's own survival can create moral conflicts. Collaborating for survival might involve compromising one's principles or aligning with morally questionable actions.

7. Justice and Fairness: Determining fair treatment and punishment in situations where established legal systems may have collapsed can be difficult. Deciding how to handle criminals or enforce rules without a structured authority presents ethical challenges.

8. Human Dignity: Preserving the dignity of individuals, even in dire circumstances, can be a moral dilemma. This may involve avoiding dehumanizing actions, even when faced with extreme challenges.

9. Long-Term vs. Short-Term: Deciding between immediate needs and long-term consequences can be a moral dilemma. Choices that provide short-term relief might have negative repercussions in the future.

10. Family and Community: Balancing loyalty to one's family and the needs of the broader community can be a moral conflict. Individuals may have to choose between protecting their loved ones and contributing to the welfare of the group.

These ethical and moral dilemmas highlight the complexity of decision-making in extreme situations, where conventional norms and values may be challenged by the urgency of survival. How individuals navigate these dilemmas can reveal aspects of their character and moral compass. However, it is precisely these issues that the film explores.

Murphy's Law
11 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Murphy's Law" is a popular adage that states: "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." It suggests that if something has the potential to go wrong or malfunction, it is likely to do so at the worst possible moment. This phrase is often used humorously to express the idea that unexpected or unfortunate events are an integral part of life and can occur even when we least expect them.

The origins of Murphy's Law can be traced back to various anecdotes and stories, but it is generally attributed to Edward A. Murphy Jr., an aerospace engineer, and his work on a project involving acceleration and deceleration forces in the late 1940s. According to the story, when a wiring technician incorrectly wired certain sensors, Murphy remarked that if something could go wrong, the technician would find it. This sentiment eventually evolved into the now-famous adage.

Murphy's Law has become a widely recognized principle and is often invoked in discussions about project management, engineering, and everyday situations where things do not go as planned. It serves as a reminder to be prepared to face unexpected challenges and to have contingency plans in place. While it can be used humorously, it also reflects the reality that life is full of uncertainties and that sometimes things do not go as we hope or expect.

While it is not possible to completely escape all situations where things do not go as planned, there are strategies to minimize risks and be better prepared for the unexpected. Here are some tips for managing situations while keeping Murphy's Law in mind: 1. Planning and Preparation: Anticipate potential problems and develop contingency plans for different situations. The more prepared you are, the less negative impact problems will have.

2. Flexibility: Stay open to adjustments and changes. A flexible attitude will help you adapt more easily to the unexpected.

3. Skills and Competence: Improve your skills and knowledge in areas that concern you. The more competent you are, the better you can handle arising problems.

4. Communication: Communicate effectively with others to avoid misunderstandings and communication errors that can lead to problems.

5. Be Realistic: Do not always expect everything to go perfectly. Having realistic expectations can prevent excessive disappointment.

6. Stress Management: Learn stress management techniques to remain calm and focused even when things do not go as planned.

7. Prioritization: Focus on the most important or urgent aspects of a situation. Do not waste too much energy on minor details.

8. Learning: View problems as learning opportunities. Whenever something does not go as planned, there are lessons to be learned.

9. Post-Analysis: Once problems are resolved, take time to analyze what happened, how it could have been avoided, and what measures can be taken in the future.

10. Letting Go: Sometimes, it is necessary to recognize that some things are beyond your control. Learn to accept what you cannot change.

Despite the best preparations, unforeseen events can still occur. The goal is not to completely escape Murphy's Law, but rather to develop skills and attitudes that will help better cope with difficult situations and reduce their impact on life. This is the lesson of David.
