I am a mom. I love my mother role more than anything in the world. I feel blessed for the opportuity to be a mom to my daughter.
I am old enough to know better, and old enough to care. I know that phrase isn't right, but that is me. I care too much at times.
I am here because of the Twilight books, but discovered some cool people in the process of posting here.
Reviews
The Paperboy (2012)
So disturbing... I deserved better.
I'm not going to give any spoilers because I don't want to share an ounce of the story. I would say I wish I would read reviews first but looking at what some people said about this horrible movie would have led me astray. It isn't interesting it isn't a great story about redemption and love. For me it felt like a low key snuff film. It was just disturbing. I worked with victims and spent much of my time on crime scenes. So I am not naive or isolated. This film was made to make people feel uncomfortable and uneasy. If that sounds fun to you more power to you. It was not something I wish I brought into my life. LOL. There was literally nothing that made me believe it was as bad as it was.
Prey (2022)
6 stars because I'm a dog lover
It is entertaining. But, with the current culture, it was predictable who the savage idiots would be. The white man. Is that just a requirement anymore? I actually liked the female protagonists. I know I know, I just really tried to remember this is not reality this is a movie. It doesn't matter what really would have happened if a predator came around back then because it is fantasy and you can make it anything you want. I'm also just a bit over it. I just want to enjoy a movie without feeling it has to fit in a perfect woke box. I also feel setting it up the way they did wasn't honorable to Native Americans either. Why does a woman have to be like a man to be a worth while character. Oh well. Now a days movie makers are less concerned about authenticity. They just want to make certain crowds happy.
Sensitive: The Untold Story (2015)
Oh, I wish this came out when I was younger
I am not a person that cries that easy, but I sobbed watching this. I finally felt I had an answer for who I am and why I am the way I am. What a gift.
Yellowstone (2018)
Not a fair rating number
I got to the 2nd episode of the 2nd season. I'm tired of constantly being preached to by Hollywood. They have no room to be so sanctimonious. This show has so much propaganda, so blatant and some subtle. I tried to give this a chance and finally turned it off when they jumped the woke shark.
Firefly Lane (2021)
Not true to the book at all. Just the same characters.
First season review: I wanted to read the book to get more details of a series that really got to me. I was so sad after reading the book that this is how Netflix chose to make the series. The book was so much better and the series missed the whole reason the book was written in the end. The series has the characters, but not any thing else. They took a beautiful book and made cliches and predictable series. So sad. I'm rating it as fairly as I can. If you like the series, don't read the book.
Edit second season review: I chose to watch season 2 knowing all I do about the series and looking at it as not related to the books at all. Netflix did check all their "please the mob" boxes with this one. Again, not the same story as the books (which are so much better) but watching it with this perspective helped. It still bugs me a little, the issues they all are dealing with are very cliche, but some of the changes I get. I guess dealing with cancer, grief, mental health, addictions, aren't as hip as the LGBTQ issues. People who had strong solid marital relationships aren't as fun as tearing those apart. And, of course the Christians are bad bitter and not very intelligent. That is how some people see the world. But, hey it's Netflix.
Blind Eyes Opened (2020)
Spot on
Working with women who have been victims of sex trafficking I can't say enough about this film. I was in tears by the end because the stories are so relatable. I now have my new hires watch this film. I also had my ladies watch it in our group meeting. I wish everyone would watch this film to gain insight on a subject that has been hidden away for too long.
The Wedding Year (2019)
I just can't
I like Sarah Hyland, but this movie was so bad full of cliches and sex jokes. So so bad.
