The Witcher: Everybody Has a Plan 'til They Get Punched in the Face (2023)
Ciri the MacGuffin
Nobody makes a sensible decision at any point, during this episode, people stand and wait to be shot, power mages can't stop a couple of attackers, and seem to think nobody would use a stratagey that targets their weakness?!
Seems this show is written by imbeciles with no understanding of strategy or conflict. The battle sequence is such nonsense. Motivations are shallow and confused, Ciri as a MacGuffin is particularly hard to do comprehend and frustrating as a viewer. Pretty much drivel dressed up in fancy clothing.
I'm at a loss as to what they're trying to achieve by butchering this universe and all the characters within it.
Suspicion (2022)
Rambling mess superficially bold with little substance
Very dissapointing show. Started with some promise although with the exception of the setup which was interesting the rest of the show just got more and more unbelievable and lost. The ending is a bloody disaster. I care about the climate crisis but the ending irritated me so much I could change my mind.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
God Awful
It's rare I bother to actually write a review on IMDb but this film ignited so much negativity in me that I couldn't stay quiet. It was one of the worst films I've ever had the displeasure of sitting through and for the first time in my life I came close to walking out of the cinema. Unfortunately for me I'm not a quitter and I was subjected to every last minute of Bay's disaster-piece.
If your more shallow than a puddle you'll probably love this film for it's explosions and ridiculously fast paced action. If you are looking for any more from a film such as a storyline that delivers tension/anticipation/twists/emotion and a modicum of unpredictability then run away.
Juno (2007)
Cute and easy to watch coming of age tale!
I'd had little to no intention of ever watching this film, the idea of a teenage pregnancy set in middle America didn't appeal one little bit. Instead when I found myself watching Juno one quiet weekend afternoon I couldn't switch off.
The films premise is basic, a teenage girl gets pregnant, decides that she's too young to keep the baby and decides to offer the child up for adoption. Surprisingly though, it's the young and successful couple who wish to adopt the unborn baby who actually have the real problems and are more unhappy with life than the teenage Juno.
This quirky film skips along the 9 months of pregnancy but Ellen Page ties it all together fantastically. Her performance as a geeky young, bright, independent, feisty and confident teenager is absolutely mesmerising. And for me it was Juno's character that makes the film so enjoyable. I've seen other people comment that they don't like Juno's personality but personally I find her extraordinarily charismatic and adorable.
Juno warmed my heart and left me smiling to myself many times throughout. Brilliantly written and nicely stylised filming makes this film easy for me to recommend.
