Chimp Empire (2023)
Gave me goosebumps
Incredible documentary, filmmaking and storytelling.
Well worth the watch. One of the rare shows I may give a second watch just to better understand the characters.
The narration is on point and the filmmaking is beautifully captured. The only piece I wish they spotlighted more attention towards was the incredible violence that is portrayed. Although you know what is happening, and do get glimpses, the filmmakers (or producers) make sure what you do see is television friendly. Having said that, they do a magnificent job in capturing the raw emotions of the chimps and what they are experiencing. Emotions many of you may find all to relatable.
If you like documentaries on nature or planet earth you will love this one. If you also enjoy political dramas and thrillers, you are in for a real treat.
The Shield: Wins and Losses (2006)
I appreciate this episode..
This episode was originally hosted on the internet before the beginning of season 6.
Ok so let's rip off the bandaid. The death of Lem was by far one of the most shocking and hurtful scenes I've personally witnessed in a series. It hit me on a level even more intense than Ned stark in game of thrones. The shield is a groundbreaking series with sharp writing, phenomenal acting and gritty realism. Lem happened to be my favourite character not only in this series but also top 5 all time. His death was shocking, and sad. It took me a while to muster up the ability to watch after Lems death at the end of season 5.
What I certainly appreciate about this 15 minute episode is it's an honour to Lems character. He's shown one last time in flashbacks in a terrific light. Rip Lem. You were a beauty.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Refreshing!! This show rocks!
Ok, let's all agree that this show is good. It's really good. I fully admit that when I heard about this and initially watched the trailer I thought "uh oh, what a terrible idea". Only this isn't your run of the mill remake or sequel. This is a continuation from a strong rooted story that in my opinion is superior to its predecessor.
Cobra Kai simply nails it. It's well written, funny, great acting and directing. I hope we get plenty more seasons ahead, because Kobra Kai knocks it out of the park.
