Revelation (2001)
Untended comedy
*** This review contains spoilers. Read at your own risk *** Goodness. I didn't expect to snicker, laugh, and snort quite as much as this. What was I thinking? The lines were cheesy (too many to give examples), the plot ridiculous, and the sex scene is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. I was in tears with laughter at the most inappropriate scenes, ie. when Jake dies. What a waste of Terence Stamp. As for all the people commenting on similarities between Revelation and The Da Vinci Code. Yes, they both boil down to Christ having descendants, but really, it's all about how much they sucked. Not the most eloquent manner in which to bash it, but I've read the book and I've seen this movie. They are not worth the time. I can't believe I caved into the hype. And I can't believe I watched this all because James D'Archy is a good looking man. The price I pay for being shallow.
The Moth (1997)
UGH! For romance fans only
If it were not for Jack Davenport (Shallow? YES, but I am being honest) I would NOT have watched all 150 minutes of this. There were times when I cringed.
*** SPOILERS? ***
The 'development' of the romance between Robert and Sarah seemed abrupt to me. She pretty much was a cold fish towards him and suddenly it's all warm.
Hm... As for Robert, he seemed pretty playboy-ish with Nancy and then becomes the epitome of the decent, hardworking 'common' man. Hm...(again)
This is for C. Cookson, romantic schmaltz and J. Davenport fans only... Even that's stretching it... But this is one person's opinion only...
Dracula 2000 (2000)
Nothing special
This was not scary (and I'm the type to cringe at the sight of a blade). This is more style than substance. There's the 'sexy' female vampires, some cool weaponry (there should've been more), some fx, and not a whole lot of thought. Don't go searching for any fully developed new spin on vampire lore, you'll be disappointed. Also, Gerard Butler is not a very sexy/charismatic Dracula, he lacked presence (sheesh, they couldn't get the title character right.) It's not the worst I ever seen, but I've been more scared of Barney the dinosaur. So, why'd I sit through it? Jonny Lee Miller (oh, and shots of my alma mater). 'Nuff said. 6/10
