The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon: Deux Amours (2023)
Pleasantly Surprised..
So I didn't have much hope for this show after trying to Watch the Maggie and Negan spinoff show. Only made it through two episodes of that before giving up.
Daryl Dixon was one of my favorite characters from TWD so I thought I would give it a shot. I just finished binging the whole season. I did not think I would like it with the setting being in France but it was actually really good. I like that they kept true to Dixons character throughout the show. Sometimes it can get old but here it works. I loved it and I am eagerly looking forward to see where they go with Season Two. Also loved the Cameo with Carol in the Season finale and I am hoping this means we might see more of her. Well done!
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Less is More..
Let me start out by saying, I appreciate movies that are different and out of the norm. So I went in with an open mind. From the very first scene I was excited because I found the characters, very interesting and I was very much invested in the main characters struggles with her day to day life, her family, her business and all the crisis she was facing. So I thought I was going to watch a good movie.....and then the whole other scene unfolded at the IRS office and it took me right out of the movie.
I don't think its a bad movie its just that adding all the other elements was completely unnecessary. Where I think doctor Strange worked better is that the alternate universes tied into the movie in a way that made the movie coherent. What they did in this movie doesn't. It just felt like it was a big, pointless mess. They had everything they needed to make a great story without adding all of the other elements.
Had they just went with the story as it was before the alternate universe scenes, the movie could have been something special. With that being said, I do believe the main two characters deserve a nod for their performances. Otherwise, I just did not find this movie to be watchable let alone oscar worthy.
