Interesting story, unrelatable characters, could do without the highschool soapy feel

As much as i liked the storyline, it got boring sometimes. Highschool / family soapy parts did not add much to the story and seemed more like a marketing trick to appease a younger audience. I am not very familiar with the Resident Evil game franchise, but can imagine it will deter the fans because of that sister/dad/highschool stuff.

All the pretty people.... obnoxious, e.g. Miss bad girl Evelyn is always sarcastic....

The decisions of some characters are not always understandable, and cost me my focus, made it to episode 6 though.

Sound makes good use of the Atmos and surround channels.

I did watch all episodes, though it got more of a bore, ik typing this while episode 7 is running along.

Underwhelming cheesy wannabe greatness

It's good to know what inspired the makers of Miami Vice series. But, after watching this, maybe in this day and age of golden offerings in on demand cinema and series (TV is maybe not the right word for it)it was a big let down for me. No twists, no deeper underlying currents of emotions. Just a plain straight story, following Tony Montana from rags to riches. What happens? Tony kills everybody around him. I was bored now and then but had to watch it through, it scores an 8+ here, right! Moroder's music adds to the dated feeling, I like a lot of his work (yes, Donna Summer, I feel the love too!) but this does not come off as his best work.

"What a pity!" my girlfriend said, while credits rolled across the screen in an almost empty theatre. Some people left halfway.

After the very first scene, you could feel it already: Not the eery, mystery feel like Kubrick's masterpiece. But, hopeful, we enter infamous hallways following a boy on a trike. It does not really get better, in spite of the excellent camera work, some great shots but a story and events which makes me think "is USA / Hollywood this poisoned with superhero movies of the last decade? There is no tension as Abra (excellent acting, I spite of the story!) continues her quest, ending in a predictable face-off. Luckily nobody really dies which explains her icecold response to a dead relative.

I absolutely loved Flannigan's Haunting of Hill House, fingerprints of that movie all over this one. But this story really sucks, although no "steam". And it feels like "the Shining" has been abused in this film, shattering some of the magic of that movie.

"What a pity!" she said even 5 times, when we walked out...

Terri: slow but wise,

Terri is just not your average movie. I can understand why some do not like this: you have to let yourself in on it. At first I was not immediately carried away, but as the story continues I slowly but surely got sucked in.

I would not call it a comedy at all, though some scenes made me smile. It touches on subjects which keep your mind occupied on that age (and later too, though different;-).

The movie shows lessons of life which some learn early in their life, others have to live through and never learn. It shows us we can make mistakes, we will, and we even have to if we want to "learn life".

I understood it got a more restricted rating than the average action movie. I can only think it has to do with the sexual subjects it contains, but I think it is done in such a way that you can only learn good things from it if you're young.

Cinematography does not do anything new, but it's a lot better and fitting than the shaky camera's of the 100 million dollar movies that came out lately.

So, lessons in life here!
