怐Oshi No Ko怑: Third Option (2023)
Season 1, Episode 2

This episode spends a lot of time establishing very little
20 April 2023
Episode 1 was solid, entertaining for 1 and a half hour. This episode's 24 minutes or so and the entire thing establishes what could be done possibly in 5 minutes: Ruby looks out for an idol career, Aqua joins Ruby's high school and what is even more disappointing is that this episode is a huge drop from the path the show was just taking. The search for Ai's father or the revenge aspect is silenced down and its definitely less worth of your time to go ahead and watch this episode. I'd rather watch episode 3 directly hoping that the plot actually progresses from there. Even besides the plot, the animation and script for this episode barely just meets demands. Not such a great continuation from the crazy episode 1.

Absolutely worth it, the story is a maximalistic dive into something beautiful
19 March 2023
No, this movie doesn't have a multiverse just for the sake of it. On paper this story is overcomplicated and convoluted but the beautiful part is the movie, the visuals guide you completely in roughly 2 and a half hours. If you gave someone inexperienced the task to produce the same story it would be a 4 hour boring mess. The risks Daniels took on this movie is way too underappreciated. The non linear storyline, multiple plot lines merging as one, the hidden symbolism in the first act and which is later displayed in a whole lotta multiverse action is well done.

What really sticks out is the acting. The emotions this cast shows is hard to connect with, as it's just an average chinese family with unrelatable middle aged evelyn, her husband, her father and queer daughter but somehow they capture emotions enough to make it relatable

I think the multiverse concept really helps explore the mind boggling nature of human conflict, love and confusion. There's so much that goes on in ones mind when you fall in problems with your loved ones. Even how the story explores non-openmindedness should be studied. Even the humor in this movie is ON POINT.

If you're a big fan of acid trip esque adventure movies trust this one, its captured all essence of it. Only flaw possibly is that you need to be willing to appreciate before criticize. This might be messy, but its the good type of messy.
