The Boss Baby (2017)

Not as bad as I thought
13 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I've been purposely avoiding this movie for years until a couple of days ago I gave in and decided to watch it on Netflix. This movie reminds me of the first Rugrats movie mainly because both Tim and Tommy have to deal with having a younger brother while eventually warming up to them but I think this movie handled that idea better. Most of the humor is pretty cringy, and gross but that's no big surprise. The villain was pretty mediocre and even his evil scheme felt stupid since while puppies are cute there's no variety in the kind of puppy you can have and they can't age either which is kinda creepy. I give this movie a 6/10 since it had a lot of nice moments.

Judy Moody
8 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I've never read the original books so I watched this movie with and opened mind. Being honest I didn't really want to watch this adaptation to begin with but gave it a shot anyway since it reminded me of Wimpy Kid. This movie was decent but could have been good if Judy herself received some character development. Throughout the entire movie she acts pretty selfish towards Frank and her brother only caring about earning "trill points". Judy doesn't even face any real consequences like Greg does in the first Wimpy Kid movie. For example when Frank calls out Judy for mistreating him and sucking the fun out of everything. That scene should have been a wake up call for Judy to change and properly make-up with Frank yet that didn't happen since later in the movie he is buddy-buddy with Judy again despite giving him a sorry ahh apology. I think if Judy had stopped caring about trill points and learned to have fun like a regular kid I would have given this movie a 7/10.

You fumbled the bag DreamWorks
1 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I had to rewatch the original trilogy and this movie again so I could be sure of the rating I gave it from the first watch and honestly while KFP4 isn't a bad movie its not a good one either. The movie didn't start off that bad until about 20 minutes in when The Chameleon was introduced. The Chameleon is quite literally the worst villain I've seen from DreamWorks so far. I mean don't get me wrong I like The Chameleon's design and Viola Davis does a great job voicing her but the character herself is rubbish. If anything The Chameleon felt more like a Saturday-morning cartoon villain because she didn't even feel like a threat compared to the previous KFP antagonists. Heck she doesn't even have a cool name and the most threatening thing she did was push someone down some stairs.....what a joke. Another thing that bothered me was the civilians in Juniper City not knowing who Po is and I was like "What?!" There is no way no one would not know who Po is since if it weren't for him Lord Shen would have taken over China. The next two movies better be an improvement over this pathetic mess cause if not my head canon will be "There is no Kung Fu Panda hexalogy in Ba Sing Sei".

Please do better Disney
20 April 2024
I originally did not want to watch this movie since I thought it looked and sounded pretty lame and I was right. In fact for some reason it reminded of another movie called The Star which came out years ago, not sure why but it may be because they both have a donkey that's part of the main cast? Anyways the movie starts out pretty mid and ends the same way. I barely cared for any of the songs, except for maybe two or three of 'em, the one I found particularly annoying was the one where the animals started singing (I literally rolled my eyes when that happened). The characters are also boring, the only ones I liked were Dahlia and the skinny one with blond hair. Magnifico is easily one of the worst written Disney villains, seriously we went from having great villains like Frollo and Hades to this guy, smh. The only thing I really liked from this movie was the end credits.

Toy Story 4 (2019)
5/10
Fourth Movie
29 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I don't think this movie is out right terrible especially since I've only seen it once , nevertheless Toy Story 4 feels like an unneeded sequel. For starters the way some of the older characters were treated didn't sit right with me specifically Buzz. I thought I was going to hate Forky at first but thankfully he turned out to be alright since I thought he was just going to be the annoying character. Ducky & Bunny.... I wanna throw them into an incinerator, you could take them out of the movie and nothing would change. Bonnie is five so I didn't think it was a big deal that she liked Forky more than her other toys (cause after all shes just a child, however it didn't make sense that she would just stop playing with Woody. Gabby Gabby was a fine antagonist but shes got nothing on Lotso. Lastly the ending makes no sense, why would Woody leave his friends when he was the one that said they should stick together. I get that he liked Bo but she's like a completely different person in 4 unlike her last two appearances, additionally she acted like a jerk towards him in certain parts of the movie so if I were Woody I would've been like "Bye Felicia".

Wimpy Kid 4
20 February 2024
First of all I believe The Ugly Truth would've been a better book to adapt into a movie since it is the fifth book in the series that comes after Dog Days and because The Ugly Truth is a better book overall in my opinion so I cannot understand why The Long Haul was chosen over other books like Hard Luck and The Third Wheel. Anyway despite what I said before the movie itself isn't that bad, the only real issue I had with it was the whole 'Diaper Hand" part of the movie like I get their trying to make the movie unique like the other films but they could have done better. A lot of people hated the new cast for the Heffley family since they weren't as good as the original cast (especially Rodrick), however I thought they were pretty decent and funny at times, a particular moment that I liked in the movie was when they were all singing a song together in the van, a moment that I believe not even the original movies had. So yeah The Long Haul is a pretty solid movie but it could've used more work.

Could've been done better
4 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Toys having their own world sounded like an interesting idea too bad this movie didn't explore it well enough. It lowkey honestly felt like a mashup between Toy Story and ChalkZone, Toy Story because the toys have a will of their own and ChalkZone because when the toys are created they manifest in their own world outside of ours.

The main character Jinoo is somewhat likable because of how much he cared about toys but other than that there is not much going on with his character. Princess Sherbet while also enjoyable I didn't like her at times because of how rude she was to Jinoo to the point where she nearly put her entire kingdom (including herself) in jeopardy because of said disdain towards him.

I believe Toy Warrior would work better as a tv series like Gravity Falls or Danny Phantom cause if given quality writing and direction it could probably become a big hit especially now considering how tech savy the world has become compared to two decades ago so it'd be interesting to see how an idea like Toy Warrior work in this day and age where you have children playing with smartphones and tablets.

Also is it strange that this movies art style sorta reminded me of Spectacular Spiderman and OG Ben 10?

Barbie (I) (2023)
5/10
Entertaining I guess...
21 September 2023
I wasn't expecting much from this movie and being honest I thought it was weird that Barbie of all things was getting a live action movie nonetheless I still wanted to give this movie a chance since i used to watch the animated movies as a kid with my sister. Upon finally getting to watch it I would have to say it's pretty boring.

Barbie starts off fairly well but like nearly half way through I loose interest in watching it. The idea of Barbie having an existential crisis is a great idea and I think the first half of the movie did a good job at that however it kind of lost its edge the longer the movie went on. Margot Robbie plays Barbie wonderfully and is honestly the best thing about the movie (second being Michael Cera and third being John Cena). I some what liked Ken too because he had a fair share of good moments in the movie.

Overall Barbie is a fairly okay movie but honestly it doesn't live up to the hype.

Kappa Mikey (2006–2008)
7/10
Still holds up
10 September 2023
Even though it has been seven years since I first watched Kappa Mikey, after rewatching it I still believe it is a great cartoon. I really enjoyed nearly every episode of Kappa Mikey however I would say that season one started off pretty bland but becomes good after a while but season two on the other hand has some banger episodes like Back to School, Mitsuki Vanishes, Script Assassin, and The Karaoke Episode (which is my favorite by the way).

I know I said that some of the episodes themselves are amazing but the characters are what make Kappa Mikey really shine. Mikey himself is pretty funny and has a fair share of good moments but sometimes I couldn't stand how idiotic he was or how he treated Mitsuki at times. Guano was good too though he cries a little too much and is practically a wimp who gets pushed around most of the time. Gonard is just the lovable airhead who likes to eat food (mainly sandwiches) but still entertaining all around. Mitsuki and Lily are both interesting in their own right but I somewhat like Lily more though she's a bit of a jerk at times. Ozu is my favorite character cause whenever he gets angry it always cracks me up (most especially when he yells at Mikey and the others), he also seems like a precursor to Benson from Regular Show but less nicer.

There was a time when I wanted Kappa Mikey to make a comeback but now I believe it's better to leave it as it is, a relic of the past, because honestly I believe its better this way than for it to return as a bottom of the barrel remake or god forbid a cringe adult cartoon similar to the pilot.

Btw, the theme song is also a banger.

Awesome
31 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I had to wait a long time to see this and boy it was worth it and I really mean it. This movie practically captures nearly everything I love about Super Mario, the characters, the items, and the different areas of the world itself.

I really didn't think I'd be impressed with Chris Pratt voicing Mario but man he did a banger of a job, the other characters voices are amazing too especially Bowser, Peach, Luigi, Donkey Kong, and Toad.

I also appreciate how Nintendo remembered Super Show (as weird as it was) and remixed some of the intro for the plumbing commercial.

I absolutely love how Peach was handled in this movie it most certainly is a step above compared to how she is in the main line games, also her personality felt similar to Daisy which was another plus.

While I've said nothing but good things so far one thing that bothered me was I felt like some scenes should've lasted a little longer.

Overall great movie and I'd love to see more of this version of Super Mario and I don't mind waiting a couple of years to see that happen.

Also that invincibility scene was freaking stunning.

Mutant Mayhem
23 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this movie in theaters weeks ago and I'd say it was a pretty good experience since not only is this the first TMNT film I've seen in theaters its also the first film I've seen in years since due to personal reasons I haven't been to the theaters in a while.

The plot for this movie while enjoyable was pretty decent because if your like me who has seen the more mature TMNT cartoons like 2012 or 2003 you'd understand what I mean, to further elaborate my point the turtles themselves felt more like preteens than actual teenagers, not to mention the action wasn't all that good either especially when it came to the garage scene.

I didn't particularly dislike anything about the movie except for those "milking" jokes that became repetitive real fast and weren't that funny to begin with but that was tame compared to the puke scene with April which was just gross and unnecessary (like seriously who thought putting that scene in the movie was a good idea).

I also like the animation and art style because it gives off a late 2000's vibe, heck Paramount even used the 2008 Nickelodeon Movies logo in the opening scene which put a smile on my face since I didn't think Paramount would use an older logo, but I'm glad they did.

In conclusion Mutant Mayhem is a decent movie but hopefully the story improves in the second movie since Shredder is gonna be in it and all.

SheZow (2012–2013)

SheZow
12 August 2023
This is a pretty good show with an interesting premise about a boy who can wear a ring that his aunt previously owned which in turn is able to turn him into a superhero however the catch is that since it was his aunt's powers before he is thus a female superhero named SheZow even though he's a guy (which is funny since at first I initially thought Guy would become female once he transformed but honestly once you watch it the other way around makes more sense).

Another reason why I think SheZow is a unique superhero is because of how her powers work and that there are rules that the wearer must abide by, though some of the powers themselves aren't really original the equipment however is what really makes SheZow shine since its (mostly) all weapons I've never seen a superhero use before.

The characters (well at least the main ones) were entertaining, Guy himself is a decent protagonist but still fun to watch, his sister Kelly was a little naggy but still enjoyable as well, Maz was entertaining and felt like someone I'd want to hangout with and I especially like how he wore different outfits each time he was with Guy (though some of them were pretty average). The villians were dogwater except for a few of them like Mega Monkey, Tattoozala, and Dr. Frankenweather (though admittedly I also kinda liked Candy Rapper).

There are also some references that I noticed like CatDog in that weird dream episode, a scene from episode 13 which reminded me of an episode from early Spongebob, and the episode that referenced Stan Lee's catchphrase "Excelsior" which made me like SheZow even more.

The animation was decent and could've been better at times but if anything I felt like some of the action was lackluster I mean come on it's a superhero show. The toilet humor is another thing I wasn't a fan of.

Overall SheZow is a good cartoon and its a darn a shame it only got 26 episodes, maybe if it was picked up by a big children's network like Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon it probably would've had a chance of sticking around a little while longer. Personally I think SheZow should have been on Nickelodeon since CN already had a lot of quality shows during that time.

Overhated
15 July 2023
High Guardian Spice has been a show that was on my mind for months and now that I've finally watched it I've gotta say it's pretty decent I was fully expecting this show to suck hard right at the first episode since people were making such a big deal out of it but as I watched it to me it felt more like an ordinary cartoon you'd see on Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon but more on that later. I personally really like the idea about young girls going to an academy so they can become strong guardians however it could've been better told but I guess there's only so much you can do with just 12 episodes. The characters are pretty entertaining especially the main ones, though I especially like the relationship between Rosemary and Sage. The voices for some of the characters seem out of place like was Crunchyroll too lazy to hire voice actors who could properly voice the appropriate ages? The early episodes aren't really that good but around episode 7 is when I was starting to enjoy it but episode 9 in particular is my favorite. I especially appreciate how violent HGS is though I never expected it considering how lighthearted it was in the beginning. Going back to what I said earlier I think this is more of a cartoon than an anime an if it were just that maybe it wouldn't get dragged on so much. Honestly I want to see HGS return for a second season especially after that end credits scene of the last episode of season one hopefully this time it'll have a better writing team that's not sexist....but who am I kidding this show's reputation has been driven into the ground thanks to constant hate it got but hey I could dream at least.
