One Day (2011)
5/10
The film was passable but mostly not memorable and Anne's accent was laughable
16 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I decided to watch the film again as I had not seen it for years. At first I enjoyed the film and thought 'Why didn't I rate it that good years ago?' Then as the film went on I realised why. Firstly I think Anne Hathaway is a great actress BUT this film didn't really do much for her and I couldn't help but laugh at her accent. One moment it was Yorkshire, then Scottish, then almost English (like she was trying to do a posh London accent but failing) and the accent kept changing and a few times even sounded American Lol. I was disappointed that there wasn't more focus on Patricia Clarkson and her relationship with her son (Dexter/Jim Sturgess), her husband and her illness. Also was disappointed about the fact the film hardly touched on Dexters relationship with his father. It started off well as Dexter being the guy you love to hate and hate to love (we have all been there) and it made me laugh how up himself he was, how entitled he thought he was and thought that Jim played Dexter well BUT then 1/3rd of the way though it became ridiculous and laughable (not in a good way) as to how he was acting and unbelievable (and nothing like the book). I must admit half way through the film I started getting bored and kept switching off. The relationship between Emma and Ian was good/interesting at times and at others ridiculous and also unbelievable. I couldn't help but laugh at. Georgia King as Suki (the scenes with her in actually made me laugh) and Dexters relationship with Sylvie (Romola Garai) had me feeling for Sylvie. I don't think it touched on enough about the accident and think it could have spent an extra 5-10 mins on that part to make that more believable and show how it affected and changed Dexter (like a wake-up call) and maybe even show him at the funeral (even tho that wouldn't have been on the 15th BUT they could have made the funeral happen on the 15th July) I loved the touching moments at the end with Dexter and his daughter and where he finally woke up and sorted himself out and started to grow up and realise all that he had lost, what a moron he had been and how he hurt so many people he loved and lost so many years of happiness by thinking he was better than everyone else and entitled. It also showed that he had a lightbulb moment and started to realise all that he still had and that he could change for the better and be a decent person but still have fun (sometimes death does that to you). I loved the fact that it didn't end up after 20 years of Emma and Dexter getting back together, marrying, having a child together and living happily ever after. It also made you think at the end how you think he changed and what his life would be like in the future and that you think he would be a great, loving father and would always be grateful to Emma (even tho it was too little too late Emma finally made him grow up and be a decent person) Personally I think they could have cut some bits of the film out and had more of other more significant parts of the book in the film to make the audience relate more to Dexter and Emma (like the book) and understand their relationship and why Dexter was like he was. It's a shame as this film could have been absolutely brilliant and made people relate and understand the characters more and even made people think 'I've been there or know someone like that/them' BUT hey ho. I am sad that half the film I basically fell asleep and can't remember much about as if they had stuck more to the book and included relevant parts of the book this film would have been fantastic and totally memorable. Maybe one day they will re-do the film and take into effect all the negative and positive reviews that have been said about the film and make an Oscar/Bafta etc award winning film. Sorry about the long review but I had to get my thoughts out there Lol.

Brilliant, Believable Series that is worth watching
21 June 2021
I loved watching the series and found it really interesting and mesmerising to watch. All the actors/actresses in this show were fantastic. The whole series has you gripped and makes you think also that it could even be based on true life. There are times in the series that you feel sorry for some of the characters, you feel annoyed at them and it makes you think what you would do if you was in their position. The great thing also it wasn't all fluff, all violence and you didn't feel for the characters. There were even times in the series where I had a lump in my throat and my eyes welled up. This series is definitely worth watching and is enjoyable. I watched the series in a oner. I saved the 3 series (so I didn't have to wait a week to watch the next series and then wait for the final one) and watched them all together after each other. It was a brilliant series and is written very well and written so well it feels like it could even be based on real/true life. Even the prison officers were believable (especially Eric) and the way some of the inmates were portrayed were believable also. I thoroughly enjoyed the series and from the ratings and other reviews a lot of other people enjoyed the series also. It was definitely 3 hours worth of watching.

Brilliant ending and Episode 3
21 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this series and saved all 3 to watch in a oner. I must admit the last episode really put a lump in my throat and made me feel really sorry for all parties (well most Lol) I felt sorry for Eric and could understand why he did what he did for his son. I felt sorry for Mark throughout the series and even hoped that he would end up being a counsellor in the prison and really thought that he would end up having a relationship with. Marie-Rose (they didn't Lol). The whole series was handled very well and wasn't all fluff and/or violence. It actually seemed believable and that what happened could actually have happened in real life. I loved how he helped some of the other inmates and didn't do the job for. Jackson and got beaten up for it but luckily the inmate he was teaching to read and write stopped him from getting too hurt. The ending (a year after he got out) brought a lump to my throat when he met with the wife of the man that he killed. I thought the ending was handled very well where she said she couldn't forgive him yet but to write a letter again and she would try. It was also good to hear that he had stayed off alcohol and was alcohol free. TBH I hope I never break the law and end up in prison as I can't see how I would cope and would be even more scared and a wimp than Mark (Sean Bean) and so dread to think what would happen to me inside. The whole 3 episodes were handled so well and kept you hooked all the way through. It was a brilliant series and ALL the actors were fantastic and belevable.

Wish they would bring this back only if just to wrap it up
17 May 2021
I love this comedy. It is so cheesy that it is funny and you can't help but laugh at and with the characters. It is a shame they cancelled the series. I am currently re-watching the series again. I wish they would bring it back if only for 1 season so it would wrap the whole thing up. The way it ended left you in limbo. It would be great to see Ben settling down (with possibly Elle the elusive woman of his dreams), Danny and Riley coping with their child and making mistakes along the way but happy together, Bonnie and Brad being their total nutty selves and Tucker finally settling down and finding the woman (or man) of his dreams. It would be great for it to say have 12 episodes and maybe the first episode continuing from 2017 when it was cancelled and then the next few episodes 5 years later (so Emma is about 10 years old) and then the following episodes do it so it is in the future and Emma is say 16+ years old and what she and all the others are like and what they are doing in the future. I am sure it would be really funny and be a real hit. We need cheesy comedies like this that you can't help but laugh at. We can live in hope.

They sound so scripted and robotic and not good at their job.
12 May 2021
I have just seen the first episode of this 4 parter and must admit I am a bit disappointed. The two women sound like they are reading from a script and also sound very robotic. They do not sound like they are treating this as something they are interested and excited to be dealing with either. They almost sound bored and and like they are doing this just for the money and to get their names out there. It also sounds at times like they are about to fall asleep and have no empathy for the families and people they are interviewing either. They keep repeating the same thing over and over again and don't actually seem to be doing any work themselves. TBH if the woman that was an FBI officer and the other a lawyer were on a case for me I would be worried that the case would not get solved and the killer etc would never get found and charged. It makes me wonder if why she is Ex-FBI is because she wasn't good at her job and the only reason they got this job was because of their looks and NOT their talent?

Love this show, keep watching re-runs BUT feel sorry for Joe
12 October 2020
I love watching Medium and was disappointed when the series ended. I was so pleased when the re-runs were available and have been watching them ever since. I know this show is loosely based on real life and what a woman actual does for the law enforcement. The only thing I hope isn't real is how nasty and selfish Alison can be to Joe especially in how she speaks to him and expects him to drop everything. If my husband or partner spoke to me like that so much they wouldn't be my partner for very long OR I would have harsh words said to them that 'I know their job is stressful and what they do is stressful BUT that doesn't mean that they can speak to me like a piece of dirt and expect me to do what they want and drop everything for them' That is the one part of Medium that makes me cringe and feel like shouting at the TV 'Grrrrrrrrr Alison don't talk to Joe like that and treat him like that' and 'For goodness sake Joe tell Alison to stop being so selfish. Stick up for yourself and tell her to stop being so rude, selfish and just plain nasty and that you have a job also, you were the main breadwinner and how would she like it if you spoke to her, treated her like she speaks to you and treats you?' BUT there you go Lol. I just hope the real Alison is not like this to the real Joe in real life because in real life people would just call her and class her as a narcistic, selfish, bullying b*tch and her husband would be classed as either a wimp or that he was being abused. Anyway apart from that (which I wanted to get off my chest) I love the show and really wish they would bring the show back maybe with just the daughters. It could be a Medium version of Charmed (the power of three Lol) I think bringing the 3 daughters back and them having their own show maybe and show how they have grown etc would be fantastic and maybe have Alison make a show every now and again. I must admit the last episode of the whole series was a bit of a dud (which a lot of people were disappointed with) and considering they had plenty of time to write a amazing ending and not leave the fans as disappointed as they left us. It was a little bit of a damp squib (in my eyes) but hey ho I loved all the other episodes.

I was laughing so much
30 April 2020
I have just watched the first episode and now watching the 2nd and I was laughing so much. Yes, it is stupid but that is the whole fun of it and you can't help but laugh. Yes, the jokes are lame but they are the type of jokes you just can't help but laugh at. It is a really funny comedy that is really lighthearted and that is definitely needed at the moment with the lockdown due to the virus. It will put a BIG smile on your face and give you 25 minutes (each episode) of laughter or a good few hours of laughter if you binge watch it. I think I will watch a few more episodes this evening with (episodes 3 and 4) a nice cocktail or glass of wine and enjoy the 50 minutes of laughter. This series is for fun and laughter and not to be taken seriously and it certainly ticks all the boxes.

Loved this episode it brought raw memories back
11 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I really loved this episode especially about the cancer patient. The only thing that I find hard to believe (I know this isn't reality) is that a hospital would throw a prom get all the decorations, the dress and be allowed to do it where it was held. I know some hospitals do things like this BUT they are hospitals that are specialist cancer hospitals and have funding for things like this especially for children (Well, they do in the UK). Also the fact that they went against the parents wishes for the girl to see her boyfriend would be open to a lawsuit especially as the girl died the next day. She could say it was the fault of the hospital and throwing the prom which tired the girl out and wasn't fit enough for the op and that is why after the op she had the fit and died. The fact also the lad wore a face mask but no-one else did didn't make sense. Surely the fact he was made to wear a face mask because of infection should mean that everyone should be wearing a face mask and gloves also because of skin contact? Saying all that it was a lovely episode that made me well up especially the ending.

Getting better and better as the weeks go on
5 March 2019
I watched the original Charmed when it first came out and was excited at first when I heard it was coming back. I must admit I was disappointed none of the originals were in the New Charmed and the 3 witches were totally different to the originals. The first episode I was a bit Meh and wasn't sure but thought I will give it a chance. The following week I was still a bit disappointed but then after the 3rd episode things started to get better, gelling and interesting. The show seems to be getting better and better each week and the actors seem to be gelling and more in tune with each other also. The storylines are also getting better and more exciting also. I really enjoyed this weeks episode (I am a bit behind most of the reviews as I am in the UK and this episode has only aired tonight (5th March) unfortunately) This weeks episode had everything and I so want Parker to be a regular and stay in the series and for him and Maggie to end up with each other (a bit like Phoebe and Cole but a happy ending Lol) I enjoyed the fact also that the sisters act like normal people and make mistakes, laugh and finding their feet etc it makes it more believable. I can't believe the amount of 1* reviews which is unfair as these people are comparing it to the original series and this is totally different even tho the same name, power of 3 and their white lighter plus the book of shadows that is where the similarity ends. If people stopped comparing the 2 then they might find that they actually enjoy the series. If you enjoy series involving witches, supernatural etc definitely watch this, give it a chance and don't compare it and I bet you will actually enjoy the series and be eagerly awaiting the following weeks show and wishing it was on the next day Lol. I can't believe the original Charmed started 21 years ago and I started watching it back in 1998 (when I was just 28 years old) If the New Charmed continues how it is then it is just going to get better and better and I hope it runs for at least 8 seasons like the original Charmed. SO give the actors and show a chance everyone and stop comparing it and enjoy the fun and supernatural aspect as it is intended and also wish you had their powers and what you would do if you had them (admit it we all done that in the original so why not now Lol)

This brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes
4 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode really choked me up and brought tears to my eyes especially 10 minutes from the end. I really felt for Natasha and Garrett. What the hospital staff did was lovely (I know it's not real Lol BUT hospital staff have been known to do similar things in reality) and how the writers handled it was spot on and not cheesy etc. Must admit Meredith is starting to annoy me by leading on 2 blokes and acting like she deserved to lead them on and it was her right. I thought what she did to Dr. Atticus Lincoln was really low and shallow. That poor guy forking out for a nice romantic meal and waiting for her to turn up and she is on the roof with Dr. Andrew DeLuca and all she says is 'I should be on a date'. She didn't even have the class, manners or decorum to contact Linc and let him know she wasn't going to turn up and the poor guy is eagerly waiting for her. Just shows how selfish, mean and rude Meredith really is and I hope she gets bitten in the bum for it (again I know it is not real Lol) I feel for Amelia she really deserves some good luck and Teddy tries to come across as so sweet and nicey nice in Greys Anatomy but she is actually a conniving two faced tramp who only cares about herself and doesn't care who she hurts an I bet Dr. Thomas Koracick is going to feel her backlash and she will use him for as long as she needs him and then drop him like a hot brick and act like all she thought they were was friends. I couldn't help but laugh when Miranda and Ben ended up in bed and declaring their love for each other. Rant over now Lol.

Great episode that will hopefully inspire donors?
14 February 2019
Great episode and another one that brought tears to my eyes (or maybe I got something in my eyes? Lol) This episode shows how the domino effect can affect so many when 1 person decides not to donate and how it can affect many people. Hopefully this episode will inspire others to donate and also think about being a donor also when they pass away as that helps so many people? I have a donor card and signed a consent that when I pass away if any of my organs can be used then they can be used. My way of thinking is that I will actually live on even if it is in someone else and to me that is a great thing,

Already love this series
13 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have watched 2 episodes already tonight and just about to watch another(I have another 10 to watch Lol) This is a great series that has already had me in tears (good tears I hasten to add) and can't wait to watch the rest of the episodes. It is a great program and I wish these doctors and Dr Max Goodwin ran my local hospital in the UK. Must admit I did scream a bit at the TV when he was told about his cancer condition and had kept it to himself and didn't want to have the treatment. I was shouting 'Think of your wife, baby, staff and patients NOT yourself and get the treatment for the cancer, get cured and you can make your hospital great and run it for a long long time. Don't be selfish as then you won't have a long happy career and the hospital will go back to being mayhem' I know it's not real and only made up but hey you can't help feel for all the doctors etc in this program. I hope this continues for a long time and gets even better (even tho I have given it a 9 I want to give it a 10 Lol) Great show that I am loving watching.

The Spruces and the Pines (2017 TV Movie)

Lovely feelgood Christmas film
7 December 2017
I absolutely loved this film and it even made me shed a tear or two about three quarters of the way through. Yes, it is the old boy meets girl, they fall in love with each other (quickly) and then find out who each other are and their family have a feud with each other BUT it is done in such a nice NOT cheesy way (OK, maybe slightly cheesy Lol) that you actually like and enjoy the film and it is actually quite funny also. The ending is actually done in quite a classy and not really cheesy way (Hey, it's a Christmas film there has got to be some cheese Lol) It's a really good funny and lovely film that gives you the feelgood factor also and puts a smile on your face. It also isn't what some people class as a 'Chick flick' (GAWD, I hate that saying) it is a film that both sexes and all ages can watch and I bet even tho some men might roll their eyes and moan about it I bet even they will secretly enjoy the film (tho they won't admit it Lol) I thoroughly enjoyed it and might even watch it again either just before or just after Christmas. All the actors in it were great and was in stitches at the barn scene with Bear(Josh) & Holly. Great film x

So boring it made me fall asleep
15 April 2012
This film is so boring that it actually made me fall asleep. The acting is very wooden and TBH I really can't see any point in it apart from siblings are forever arguing and no matter how much they may hate each other at some point in their life (or all) they still deep down care for that person. This whole film could have been done and dusted in about 20 mins. It had no beginning, middle or end. Yes, there were some funny bits but all in all it was just a boring peace of documentary with surprisingly wooden actors (TBH I was surprised at how wooden some of the actors considering the shows and films they have been in (Glee, jennifers body, red riding hood) and if I was a producer/director I wouldn't want any of these people in any of my films because of their acting skills. None of the actors shined and you was just left thinking "wow was that it" If you want a film to send you to sleep because it is so boring then watch this it will do it for you! Lol x
