Let me list the pros and cons of the movie.

Pros: 1. Technically some scenes are well shot 2. Tovino's climax scene is very touching and really well acted

That's it. Can't think of anything else. I can't say story because the Kerala flood incident is a very heart touching one and anyone making any movie on it will be naturally close to heart and emotional.

Now coming to the cons.

Cons: 1. Overacting in so many scenes 2. Unnecessary Tamil Nadu and Kerala conflict angle which looked forced and neither added any value to story 2. Pathetic background music. Too loud and felt like it was trying to force the story and emotions on the viewers 3. Too many subplots and characters which by the end of the movie lose steam. Ex: the female news anchor and Kunchako Bobban character 4. Forced emotions and thrilling moments make the movie over dramatic. That whole child rescue scene by Tovino was too dramatic and made edge of the seat forcefully i feel.

Really Kerala story is far better than this movie though that also has unnecessary drama and few other flaws.

Disappointed with this movie.

Probably for the first time in Indian cinema we see a spy who is just like the guy next door and not James Bondesque or like Shah Rukh Khan in Pathaan flexing muscles, beating an army of guys to pulp and sporting expensive shades, roaming around with bikini babes.

Kudos to the writers and director and entire team of 1888 for making a mainstream spy film that's so believable and different.

The movie could have done without the songs, but then i understand why they were there in the first place. Overall a very intelligent thriller which did not seem to have loopholes and was not spoon feeding a lot to the users as well.

When the film ends i get a hint that a sequel is in the offering and that might be titled IB88 ( a spinoff of the original title.. notice the similarity between IB88 and I888). Really looking forward to that one after this wonderful watch.
