Let's Dance (2019)
Surprise film
I turned off this movie on Netflix when I thought it was a hip hop themed film. I then came back a week later, and, voila, it was a beautiful movie on dance, blending hip. Hop and ballet. I just loved it, the romance, the Paris scenes, the actors. Hog wash that it was given a low rating by critics. It is a beautiful film! So glad I turned it on again! From the hip hop dancer with an attitude problem, Joseph was able to embrace the ballet scene and broaden his dance and life horizons. Chloe in her ballet innocence was able to embrace and open her horizons. Beautifully filmed, it was worth spending the evening watching it!
A Million Miles Away (2023)
Fields to Space
I grew up in the Central Valley, near Stockton, so I was well aware of migrant workers working our fields of grapes and other fruits and vegetables. So this great film about Jose was particularly meaningful to me. He managed his humble beginnings in the atmosphere of bias against Mexians and fulfilled his dream of becoming an astronaut. He shows, try harder, never give up, give yourself a chance, and set that goal in spite of obstacles. That is something that this American culture does allow one to do. And there ARE loads of obstables these days. Bravo for an uplifting film! Thanks to Amazon Prime for airing this.
