Neoui Sigan Sogeuro (2023)
The feeling of yearning is not there, sadly
Note that I haven't watched the Taiwanese original series (but heard that it's really good) so I don't know whether the story line of 'A Time Called You' is the same as 'Someday or One Day' or not.
The plot is really interesting, FL time travels to the past, taking over the mind and body of her look-alike, and meets a classmate who looks like her dead boyfriend in the present days.
First, I did not expect that there's going to be a mystery in this series. However, I do think it would be a lot more entertaining and fun if viewers can try solving the mystery along with the characters and make some guesses about who the culprit is.
Second, Jeon Yeo Been did a very good job as the FL. Throughout the series, I could truly feel her emotions. Whereas the two MLs, I believe they can do better. In Gyu was too stoic, maybe it's his character, but he always wears the same expression in every situation. As for Nam Si Heon (someone who lost the love of his life and then has to wait years to meet her again), he in the present days did not look "that" sad. He was sad and he cried, but the feeling of yearning is just not there in my opinion, which is a shame.
What I found funny is: the BGM. In the present days, whenever there's suspense, the production team decided to use an old school BGM that do not match with the scene at all, making it seems like a scene from a makjang or old k-drama.

Timing is key!
My advice is to pick this drama when you feel like watching something romantic but at the same time, you want to cry. Otherwise, you might find it boring since the story is super slow paced.
From beginning to end, this series is full of mystery. Kim Moo Yeong himself is a mystery. It was very hard to figure his character out at first. I kept wondering: What is his true intention? Where's his head at? He is such an antihero; his action is sometimes confusing, but a lot of things he said actually make sense. He's also cool. When he was told to go away, he really did go away. That's what makes him charming yet cold. Along the way, however, he's getting softer and becomes more likeable after meeting Jin Kang.
Seo In Guk and Jung So Min have an amazing chemistry. Their interaction feels so natural, and they look good together *heart eyes*

Is this the power of love?
Finally, another drama where the breadwinner is the wife. So refreshing!
The story after Jiwon is starting to become suspicious of her husband is full of suspense. It's kinda fun seeing Do Hyeon Su lying to her face. I was extremely curious to know his reaction when he finally realized that Jiwon has actually discovered his secret a while ago, and that scene didn't disappoint at all! The emotions both Lee Jun Ki and Moon Chae Won delivered during that scene were incredible. The power of love <3
However, right after the real Baek Hee Seong woke up, the story drags on and i found myself skipping most of Baek Hee Seong's parts (probably because i despised his parents). Talking about Baek Hee Seong, who just woke up from a 15-year coma, it is so unrealistic that he can move his body, walk, and then run like normal in a matter of days without any physical therapy.
The character Do Hyeon Su is very complex and ever so often misunderstood. He is portrayed from early on as someone who is cold-hearted. Yet at times, he is loving and caring. It is so satisfying to see his character progressing throughout the story.

Webtoon over drama
Having read the webtoon, I was so thrilled when I first heard that the live action was coming out in 2023. So, here's how I feel about this drama so far.
The story is slow-paced in the first four episodes due to the amount of flashbacks the writer and production team need in order to build the characters. And I'm guessing, they will continue to insert flashbacks in the upcoming episodes because the story relies heavily on Ban Ji Eum's past lives and other characters' memories.
On one hand, flashbacks are important in this drama because they help us understand each character on a far deeper level. However, they can also make the story flat and tasteless. And that's exactly what happened in the first four episodes. Since there are not much going on, I can understand if someone finds it boring and decides to stop watching.
Thankfully, the story is starting to accelerate in episode five. And as much as I hope the writer to stick with the webtoon, I've already seen signs that they are going to add new elements in the story.
I would still recommend the webtoon over the drama, because the Ban Ji Eum in the webtoon doesn't give off this "stalkery" feelings like she does in the drama. The Moon Seo Ha in the webtoon doesn't give in to Ban Ji Eum as easily as he does in the drama too. Or at least that's what I remember LOL.

Pass and give it to the next person
The early episodes were unbearable to watch. I've noticed that the writer and the production team are trying to make the drama comical, but the comedy is a hit-or-miss. For me, it's sadly a miss. I find it cringe and forced.
Beside the comedy, I also don't like the fact that our main leads always seem to be "accidentally" in the same place, at the same time:
- Standing basically two meters away from each other at the hotel lobby AND THEN walking away at the same time just for the sake of the slow-mo effect without noticing one another.
- Remember that time at the park, where they AGAIN were standing just a couple of meters away from each other looking at the beautiful city skyline. Why THAT park? Is there something special about the park? Because you can see the city skyline from other places too.
- They were also standing on the balcony outside their respective hotel room. And guess what? They did it AT THE SAME TIME.
In 2023, I thought we already went past that cliché. I can tolerate if they do it maybe once in a while, but in each episode? I'm not sure.
It is truly disappointing since out of all the upcoming dramas, I was looking forward to King the Land the most. I trusted Lee Jun Ho and Yoona, but now I'm questioning their judgement on this.
I end up dropping this series after episode five. I really do hope that the upcoming episodes will be better than the previous ones tho cause there's a chance I might want to pick it back up in the future. And if in any way, you find this drama enjoyable, I'm happy for you :) It is just not for me now.
The Good Bad Mother (2023)
"good" intention lost in the process
First of all, there are some scenes that could be disturbing to some people and should have been given a trigger warning. Those scenes are really unnecessary because I believe the writer could have chosen a better approach.
Despite the fact that the middle part of the series is light-hearted and the kids are suuuuper cute, the story itself is dragging, resulting in a rushed ending. A few characters serve no purpose in this drama; they suddenly appear and then disappear without any explanation. Instead of contributing to the story, their existence is rather distracting and pointless.
I know this drama is trying to convey a "good" message and supposed to be heart-warming, but one thing keeps me from giving it a higher rating. And it is the mother. I had high expectations since it's Ra Mi Ran. She is a great actress and I love her other works. But in this drama, I dislike her character with passion. It's extremely hard for me to feel for her. It's not because of her acting (she's amazing as always), but it's because of the character traits of the mother.
Selleobeuriti (2023)
entertaining, but...
Although I find this drama quite entertaining and intriguing with all the mystery and revenge plot, there are many holes in the story especially towards the end, which make some of the scenes questionable and absurd.
The characters in this series, aside from the female lead, do not have any character development at all. Most of them are always screaming, yelling, and throwing things every time they're angry or frustrated. Yes, like those scenes in makjang dramas. It was actually tolerable at first, but at some points, it was getting more and more annoying and unbearable.
Park Gyu Young, Kang Min Hyuk, Lee Chung Ah, and Lee Dong Gun fit their character really well. If only the writer took the time to actually give these characters more depth, the story would have been ten times better.
Regardless, this drama is fun and light enough to watch if you just want to pass time.
