Hush (2016)
One Of The Best Thrillers I've Ever Seen
Wow. Talk about a ride. Without giving anything away that you can't read in the blurb up top, she's a deaf woman being stalked by a psychotic man hellbent on terrorizing her and killing her. What gives this movie a fresh new spin is that she's deaf and there is very little dialogue in this movie. Though, until it's over you hardly notice because you are so on the edge of your seat through every moment that it's going on.
You cannot help but place yourself in her shoes and imagine what you would do if you were being stalked in the middle of nowhere with no communication AND couldn't hear. There are some truly terrifying parts where even as a grown man I wanted to just close my eyes and not even look, because at some point, I needed to go to bed and didn't think I'd be able to after watching this movie.
My recommendation would be one of two things, either watch it all by yourself in the dark or with a group of people who won't talk during the movie. I really feel like it would take you out of the experience to have side chatter during a thrilling game of cat and mouse as this is. Very well done. Horror/Thrillers don't get any better than this.
Zoolander 2 (2016)
Most Unnecessary Sequel In Recent Memory....
I honestly cannot think of a sequel in the last ten years (though I'm sure there have been many) that didn't need to be made more than this movie. The jokes were recycled, the cast spewed out the same old lines and it was just junk all around. My eleven year old son loved it, so that's saying something right there. Penelope Cruz was so unnecessary to the entire plot of this movie. There were a few parts I did laugh at, but only those involving Will Ferrell who doesn't even appear until what feels like six hours into the movie. Even in a pretend world like the one where Zoolander takes place, it's impossible to believe that Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson would have any sense of relevance whatsoever.Skip it. Watch the original and leave it at that.
Good Fences (2003)
HORRIBLE! Avoid like the plague!
OK, the box looks promising. Whoopi Goldberg standing next to Danny Glover parodying the famous farmer and his wife painting. Then you pop this baby in the DVD player and all hope is lost in less then five minutes. Supposed to be a comedy. And I must admit I did laugh once about ten minutes before the ending. This movie has the following elements: A battered and abused next door neighbor, a boring legal trial, racisim, talk of lynchings, and death and arson. Hilarious, huh? No, please, if you never listen to anyone's reviews, please do here. You cannot even force yourself to watch this crap. CRAP! I said it, CRAP! Whoever put there name on this should indeed sue.
Spun (2002)
Terrible In Every Way, Shape, & Form
It's far easier to say what's bad about Spun then good, and simply put, that is 'everything'! What a travisty of a film. Here's a movie that trys to be way to artsy and important and it just comes off as a really badly directed anti-drug commercial. The acting in this film is about it's only saving grace and even that's not saying much considering Brittany Murphy and that one hit wonder from 'Almost Famous' are it's leaders. Don't watch this, don't give it one other thought in your head besides passing it by on the video store shelf.
