At a time (from 42:00 for a few seconds) when they are supposed to be at the back of beyond, somewhere in the Everglades where no one has been since 1924 according to them, we can clearly see a number of cars passing a few yards behind them.

Just saying ...

Not the Templars again
24 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After the dreadful series "Lost Relics of the Knights Templar", one would have hoped that Josh had given up flogging the Templars' dead horses.

Alas .. The 13th Century gold and silver treasure ended up being one single silver coin allegedly found on site and cleaned with a toothbrush.

Hardly a rival to the Le Catillon II Hoard.

Embarrassing garbage
6 April 2022
It seems that the only people laughing at this nonsense were the "actors" themselves.

Totally unfunny.

One can find immensely better stuff on YouTube and other social media outlets.

Apparently done by a bunch of sad old men who needed a bit of cash. Pathetic.

Annoying background soundtrack

Too distracted by the background soundtrack.

Seems sort of interesting but I gave up half way through the first episode because of the soundtrack.

Preposterous yarn
1 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ridiculous plot featuring the oldest 12 year old on the planet. Ludicrous body count, not helped by dumb, obviously suicidal baddies who were supplied with useless weapons, or was it simply awful choreography? The kind of flick to watch when you are bored and it's raining too much for taking the dog out for a walk.

Already done ad nauseam
26 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The NASA capsule story has been covered ad nauseam for decades.

The blown hatch story was debunked back in 1962, 5 years before Gus Grissom's death.

A simple Google search for "NASA Liberty bell 7" finds 1,310 videos.

The mine clearance in the Baltic Sea has been going on for years. A Google of "mines in the Baltic Sea" finds 1,910 videos going back many years. The huge explosion is shown on a YouTube clip dated 13 Feb 2008.

The Devil's Triangle has been covered for decades. I recommend the 50 minute documentary made in 2003 - The Devil's Sea: Beyond the Bermuda Triangle by MagellanTV.

Very disappointed
8 June 2020
Good actors in a boring, overlong, unfunny, over acted play.

Several weak, dated plots one after the other and a deus ex machina to finish.

This is what would have been expected from Roger Pierre & Jean-Marc Thibault at the start of their theatrical career in the 1950s, not seventy years later from veteran actors such as Thierry Lhermitte and Bernard Campan both sexagenarians at the time the play was performed.

Waste of time
21 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
When I heard about this series, I thought 'Oh dear, not another one...'

When I heard the first would be about the Mothman, I thought 'Oh dear, not THAT again ...'

Anyway, I decided to watch with an open mind. What an absolute waste of time.

Two researchers and a whole camera crew paddling on a pond in the middle of the night, seeing animals in their heat detectors. How frightening and unusual! Come in my garden in the middle of the night and your heat detectors will see plenty of animals, cats, rats, rabbits, squirrels, maybe a passing dog, etc.

Two people gave a 10 to this trash. The two heroes of this episode most probably. I felt generous and gave it an overrated 1.

No, I won't bother with the following episodes.

There were much better plots in Tom & Jerry cartoons.

Totally unbelievable nonsense. I wasted an hour and a half of my life. Pity there is no option for zero rating. Grrr ...

Dumb finale
15 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Rushed finale.

Kill off all the actors who haven't signed for a second series.

Remove all the WUs by just looking at the human portals, without any ritual Whatever happened to the GU and the complicated ritual involving spider, frog, scorpion, snake?

Why murder the 500 year old guy who was no longer a threat? He had fulfilled his 500 year old dream and had no Wu, for goodness' sake?

I thoroughly enjoyed the first 8 episodes, the 9th was way over the top but the finale is just plain stupid. By the way, how did Kay return to 21st century San Francisco after murdering Alec in 16th Century Scotland?

11 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Totally implausible story.

I have enjoyed the previous 16 episodes, but season 3 doesn't start well. Very lazy writing.

The "plot" would have been OK in a late 1950s cops & robbers type yarn, but we should expect better in the 2010s.

Very old hoax
23 May 2019
Come on ...the Crystal Skulls' hoax has been debunked countless times over several decades. Ample documentation to this effect is freely available. There was no record of a skull in the original diary and not even a record that his adoptive daughter was in the expedition. Please let's not have this show turn into make believe, otherwise what's next? The quest for Father Christmas' tomb?

The show used to be great.

It's now apparently scripted for the lowest common denominator, and has become moronic drivel.

I have stopped watching.
18 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Having watched #2.3 I shall watch no more episodes of this show.

It has gone from dumb to abysmal, it's embarrassing to watch.

Every week we are presented with a very vague plot riddled with holes, then Riggs having random monologue arguments with colleagues, his 5 minute pointless session with Maureen the flirty psychologist, then Murtaugh arguing in a high pitched voice with his wife -cue Keesha Sharp's whiter than white expensive teeth- about their children, then arguing with his children.

To fill the rest of the time around the adverts, a few dumb baddies are thrown in, the customary car chase with its inherent destruction, back projection and a bit of CGI if budget allows.

The 1970s final Season of McMillan which was pretty awful, was more watchable than this nonsense.

Suspended disbelief about distance and travel times.
21 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Great series which I thoroughly enjoy -apart from a handful of daft episodes- but I get so annoyed by unrealistic geography.

In this episode, Sam and Dean are in Carencro Louisiana. Sam receives a distress call supposedly coming from Amelia in Kermit Texas. It's been dark already for quite a while, Sam drives to Kermit where he sees Amelia and Don sitting on their sofa and watching TV, which leads to assume that it's at most late evening.

The part that annoys me is that Kermit is 800 miles away from Carencro. Even driving on the Freeway -which the brothers never do- it would take about 12 hours.

This happens regularly. They get a call from hundreds of miles away, quick clip of the Impala on a secondary road, and they promptly arrive during the same night / morning / afternoon.

OK, this is fantasy with demons, angels, unicorns, gods, werewolves etc which is great fun, but please... writers, could you have a bit of respect for US geography?

Maigret: Maigret Sets a Trap (2016)

Full marks to Rowan Atkinson, but ...
8 April 2016
When will British actors figure out how to pronounce French words that end with an "e"?

It's so easy: you DO NOT pronounce the final "e". Montmartre is pronounced "Montmartr'", not Monmartreuh.

In English, you don't say "what is your nameuh" or "May I borrow your phoneuh", or "I do my shopping onlineuh"

Rowan Atkinson did a very good job (a bit too thin to play overweight Maigret, though). Full marks for not having his wife call him by his first name, which she never did in all Simenon's books, fact which was totally ignored in the awful Richard Harris 1988 incarnation.

Ghastly loud muzak we could have done without.

So please Rowan and the rest of the cast, drop the "euh" and please Mr Producer, don't bother with the silly muzak.

Overlong spoof rejected by SNL or another comedy show?
3 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Was this an overlong spoof rejected by Saturday Night Live or another comedy show?

Or perhaps there was no money left after the actors were paid and the bill for hiring the Halloween lizard suit was settled?

It feels and looks like the actors were told to freely move around and ad-lib BS for 43 minutes with no need to bother acting.

Great disappointment as this last series has only 6 episodes. What a waste.

This is a major league stinker even compared to some embarrassing episodes previously endured.

A number of XFiles followers apparently see this one as pure genius; typical cringing case of Emperor's New Clothes syndrome, imho.

No longer what it used to be
27 June 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The first season was fantastic and huge fun with witty characters.

The second was more about office politics and the third went on and on about that murder case.

This 4th season sees the people we had become fond of, now turn nasty at each other, scream at each other, call each other names and are thoroughly unpleasant.

Are they all turning alcoholics? The drinking is getting ridiculous.

Harvey no longer smiles, Mike shouts, Rachel is for ever sulking, Jessica stares are longer and more and more frequent, Donna seems to spend her time telling people off, even Louis who was the comic relief during three seasons is no longer funny.

As for this damn take over case, we've already spent three long boring unpleasant episodes on it. How long will this go on? How patient will the audience be?

Person of Interest (2011–2016)

Great shame that 3rd season goes downhill all the way
7 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the first two seasons which were great gritty entertainment, with a good formula.

The 3rd season departs from the person of interest to go all out war against HR, with bodies galore, explosions, action switching from night to day and day to night (continuity team, where are you?), with the heroes turning into cartoon-like characters.

Then the writers killed off the most charismatic character of the lot.

The irritating Root becomes a main character, but scores badly on the credibility level. The Machine communicate with her on the 15KHz frequency band ... oh dear, are the writers attempting to emulate the awful Intelligence show?

I gave up watching after the "Aletheia" episode where Reese leaves, gets drunk, is somehow traced across the States by Fusco (who has become the comic relief) and out of nowhere the two of them reappear to save the day disguised as SWAT officers. "Aletheia" is a real stinker of an episode with plot holes of epic proportions, and is to be watched in full suspended disbelief mode.

I am giving a miss to the rest of the 3rd season. I'll probably watch the first couple of episodes of Season 4, and hope it has improved to make the rest of season 4 worth watching.

Sherlock: His Last Vow (2014)
Season 3, Episode 3

What's going on with user ratings?
12 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
What is going on with the ratings?

A disappointing episode which needed desperate measures and a fair dose of suspended disbelief to retain attention (among others Sherlock being shot in the chest by Watson's wife who was revealed to have had a previous career as a CIA assassin before becoming a solo assassin ...).

Episode having just finished, I went to IMDb and lo and behold 252 people had already voted for "Sherlock: His Last Vow", giving it an average of 9.7.

241 out of 252 have given it a 10.

Well over an hour later and having refreshed the page several time, the count is still the same, still 95.6% of 252 votes (241) giving 10 to this miserable episode. Not a single vote in the past hour. This would indicate that viewers voted (95.6% giving 10) BEFORE the episode was shown.

Are the ratings rigged? And for what purpose?

Fortunately, we had the pleasure to see the excellent Lars Mikkelsen (of The Killing and Borgen fame) who made a great villain.

A big goof, by the way, at the end. When Moriarty (yeah, flogging a long dead horse) comes on TV the picture flickers and we see "snow". The country has gone digital and there is no "snow" on digital TVs when the signal weakens.

Machete Kills (2013)

Worse than awful.
11 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I gave it 2 as I believe that ratings of 1 don't count for calculating the average.

How could 1719 people give this rotten turkey a 10 rating? Probably friends and family of some of the actors, extras and of the crews?

It's not funny, it's not tongue in cheek, it's not a parody, it's not a comedy. They have reached the absolute lower levels of abysmal.

I have seen many bad movies and usually one can laugh because they are so bad. Some are so bad that they have become cult movies. This mess is much too awful to be laughed at.

The plot ... what plot? Enough said.

Were all these otherwise famous actors so desperate for the money?

And a sequel is in development! At the very best, this garbage should have gone straight to video, bargain bin section.

You have been warned!

Conned by the hype
23 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
After all the fuss and hype, I felt I just HAD to see this film.

Oh dear ... how did they manage to spend $200 million on this?

Same formula as was used back in the 1940s. Horrible disease that turns people into zombies. Enter hero and family, plus obligatory young child. Fight zombies every so often to wake up the audience, board planes and helicopters which are incredibly economical on fuel, then oh miracle a "cure" is suggested but one has to fight yet more zombies in order to get whatever has to be injected. Zombies fooled, worldwide joy as the "cure" is parachuted and zombies blown by deadly CGI. End of movie.

Embarrassing goofs galore. I can't use a phone in my garden shed because of the metal shelves and fittings, but the hero's wife uses hers in a metal cabin below deck in an aircraft carrier. Yeah, right... Cardiff Airport is 3 miles from the seaside in the Bristol Channel but never mind, they crash the plane somewhere in North Wales and promptly walk in the Cardiff (South Wales) laboratory. A baseball bat in a Welsh laboratory? Hello props department ... this is Wales in UK! Do your US laboratories keep cricket bats in the reception area? Incredibly stupid staff in the WHO laboratory, our hero is told in which room to go to, but not which bottles to pick! As for sick people being invisible to zombies, that's a very lazy solution.

I was conned by the hype.

Gobsmacking scenery but pity the show is so staged.
15 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
My marks are for the fantastic views of India, the Himalayas and South America. They are NOT for the show. The show spoils the viewing. Why oh why do they have to make it so dramatic when it's so obvious that it's staged?

The silly voice over about the truckers being miles from anywhere with no one around. We know jolly well there is a whole team with land and air vehicles, camera crews etc escorting them.

Fake arguments, fake tempers, amateurish editing. Best example of bad editing is when Tino and Tim stick TNT on their container. The lorry starts and stalls,TNT is gone; 1/2 mile later TNT is back on. Why stage a lorry stalling?

The most awful bit of obvious staging is Lisa taking the fuel drums to the rescue team. The truckers going on and on most unconvincingly about "these people need their fuel" and Lisa repeating it ever more unconvincingly ... Please guys, take acting lessons! Then we have a short footage of Lisa driving, footage of drums in a lorry, footage of arriving in a field. Hmm...

As I stated, the scenery is wonderful but the bit about trucking is so obviously staged that it's superfluous. I won't mention the daft annoying CGI of trucks exploding, falling down cliffs etc.
