Napoleon (2023)
I just didn't feel it
I mean, its not that bad but... it could be way better with names like Phoenix or Ridley Scott. The movie is way to boring but with good visuals, good atmosphere and good dressing but the acting is just not nailing it. I think nobody could really feel the acting of Joaquin Phoenix or any other actor or actress that appeared on the movie. It's entertaining, it has a hood history but... why hyping it that much?, why making such a great idea this lame and pointless This movie only has future on streaming platforms, it was just not the time to put it on theaters with a lot of good movies in the same year.
Los (casi) ídolos de Bahía Colorada (2023)
A pure Mexican culture representation.
A wonderful comedy about a marginalized town in Sinaloa, where the sons of a legend seek to follow in their father's footsteps. This movie with incredible photography, formidable performances and an excellent script using the Sinaloan accent. One of my favorite movies, because of the story, the ridiculousness and the incredible feeling of nostalgia for Mexicans. This movie may seem strange and uncomfortable for people from another side, not feeling familiar with the Mexican culture, but it is an incredible reflection of what happens in Mexico and situations that occur every day, families fighting over inheritances, Mexican music and pursuing the dream of acting in Mexican soap operas.
