chef-d'oeuvre with little imperfections, available only on Russian language - yet :(
13 February 2014
I'm know Russian language good enough for fully taste this movie. It is worth it, I mean time spent. As You all know, our lifetimes are strictly limited. So, why we must spend our priceless time on watching low-quality cinema/TV time-waster? But about especially this movie: I'll recommend to You wait, while Russians made translation for it, and then You will see great show. I will not to give spoilers there, but translation of this movie may meet serious problems for translators, while movie is full of specific Russian idioms and expressions, based on folklore and black humor. Main character, Solovey-Razboynik, take His name from old Russian tale about brigand on road, who hit down their victims with His whistle and then rob them. In direct translation His name can be Nightingale-Robber, You can found some information about this at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightingale_the_Robber and check it Yourself. Modern Nightingale the Robber gather His gang together and rob-the-riches-and-protect-the-poor-countrymens, all this are presented like city legend from different viewpoints, but are full of importance. Actually, this movie reveals real current mood of Russian society - they are unprotected and deeply hate their wealthy officials and etc. Especially great are final scene, good idea for ending. With some reservations I like this movie, because some scenes was not acceptable for me, but it is kind of my own taste. Pretty work always must contain some imperfection, just for contrast. Ideal piece of art in real life are boring, this rule are actual for movie too.

So, wait for English translation and enjoy! It's worth it!

When I watched this movie, the first thought was "Stupid Americans".

In fact, anyone who saw this silliness, was unscrupulous cheated. Potboiler like this, can be mocked up anyone, and then they collect money for tickets... If every nitwit pay to once see this film - authors get nice cash. I agree with all comments before me - there really can see cheap, poor acting, ugly script, plot and bad directing. As I said - stupid Americans. If you have some time to waste... Yes, I agree with "Don't Bother, 17 January 2009". This is a huge disappointment for everyone, who spend his money to tickets or DVD rent... You must sue "Clay Bros. Motion Pictures" - they had You. Really. (Sorry for my grammar, I use Google translator)

The Lost Battalion (2001 TV Movie)

I found 2 mistakes. Can You found more?

1) I am not weapon expert, but even i can see difference between U.S. army riffles in WWI and WWII. In movie we can see privates, armed with "M1 Garand" (invented in year 1932!), not authentic "1903 Springfield" (aka "Silent Death"), who privates use until WWII. Difference - M1 can load 1,5 times more ammunition and 3 times more fire rate! M1 was semi - automatic, Springfield requires reloading after every shot. Little difference?! 2) German army uniforms has borrowed from 1940 Year too. Especially - helmets. German helmets until end of WWI have significant pike on top, we cannot see even one in movie. And if we make little additional search in archives - how much truthful is this "True Story"? I am surprised, how much "truthful" can be film directors in a pursuit of cheap propagation.
