Naruto: Shippûden (2007)
People who skip shippuden, you guys don't know what you're missing
I admit.
I started Naruto because I wanted to see a romance anime and surprisingly Naruto came as my recommendation.
Although there wasn't much to say about it romance anime, Naruto is so much more than that.
The characters from the original classic series are so we'll developed in depth with their stories, not to mention the insane plot twists which makes you wonder who really is the villain at this point. All the relationships in the show are interestingly fun to watch and I doubt I would get bored of watching Naruto and Sasuke bicker all over again.
The internal conflict between Naruto and Sasuke is well balanced and was carried out neatly till the end.
At the end of the series I feel like I've experienced everything I needed to experience in life through the eyes of the blue eyed spunky idiot whose unexpected tactics never fail to crack me up.
Also, heads up for anyone who is halfway through the show : Grab some pillows and tissues at the end because ending a 700+ long series won't be easy.
Now time for me to go re-watch the naruto clips from yt.
Shiki (2010)
Shiki-horror
This anime was really something else.
The pacing is a bit slow in the beginning, but nevertheless watchable. I personally thought it was quite necessary for one to see how the shiki affected the lives of normal people living in the village and how much they had suffered when their loved ones were dying.
Then we have the doctor and the monk's relationship, two men with different views on the shiki. I personally rooted for the doctors side as I could feel his resentment towards himself and that anger when he wasn't able to save his patients and how they seemed to die so randomly. The monk on the other hand is deeply attached to the shiki- 'sunako' and feels that they shouldn't kill shiki without any reasoning as they too killed only to survive to live.
Then we had the mini story with Natsuo( bless that kid, he's the one who remained stoic and unmoved by his change till the end). I felt that Natsuo's character had more potential although and wished to see more of his side stories.
This anime puts light on the two sides who suffered- the shiki and the villagers and you can't help but feel sorry for the shiki in the end. The last few episodes were both awsome and saddening at the same time.
In my opinion I wouldn't really watch the mini side episode of ep-20 as it got way too bloody for me. At this point the villagers were just turning into wild animals. Although if you're still curious as to how the mysterious fire at the end of the story started, do give it a watch.
