When my brother and I won tickets to Lars And The Real Girl, we thought that we would have another sex romp on our hands. This movie is so the opposite I could even recommend to my mother. It's wonderfully creative movie and very well written. Neither of us have laughed watching a movie in a long time like we did this one. Even clever one-liners all end up in this film. We both found the acting great and nothing really out of line. Personally I watch about 15-20 movies a week, whether in the theater or on DVD. This movie is well worth the cost of purchasing or rent. I will purchase it to see what the extras are. It's a great film and recommend it highly. Don't let the title or synopsis turn you away, it's very funny and clever!

Unknown trivia?
6 September 2007
I watched this movie for the first time and was really caught up in the filming, process and style. Many talk about the symbolism in the movie but I see a bit of trivia that others seemed to have missed. Either here or on Wikipedia.

The film is about flying saucers and interplanetary craft (and the message that the aliens(s) bring). The main character, an alien, whose name is 'Klaatu', later adopts the Earthly name 'Carpenter'. Some years later a song by the name of 'Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft' was released in 1976 by a group called Klaatu. Several years later the same song was redone by the Carpenters tying the two names back to this famous motion picture.

CSI: Miami (2002–2012)
Caruso Shines

The redhead that looks at the floor as he talks to his suspects. A brilliant trademark for a very well written show. From the opening crime catching scene and into a great 'screaming', remix of The Who's 'Won't Get Fooled again' open credit sequence, to David Caruso's great acting, this show is worth at least an hour of your time each week. Caruso makes the show. He's great to watch as he throws simple single line hooks into his suspects & catches them off guard with the forensic evidence his team gathers. We got a glimpse of this guy in 'NYPD Blue' as he played Detective John Kelly, but Caruso has been a good actor for a very long time. From 'Proof Of Life' to William Friedkin's 'Jade' to Barbet Schroeder's 'Kiss Of Death', Caruso has been an actor that has come into his own. If you have an opportunity to see 'First Blood' you will get to see Caruso as he plays a young Deputy showing compassion to Sylvester Stallone's character. The same compassion that he now shows in CSI:M to victims that are not able to help themselves. A welcome relief to today's hardened Hollywood leading dramatic actors roles that show no empathy.

This is not to take away from the rest of the cast. They are good and hold their own, however it's good that the lead actor shines as Caruso does. Perhaps an Emmy is not out of the question.
