The Shop Around the Corner (1940)
At the Top of Holiday Movies!
I have to give this delightful movie ten stars because it richly deserves it. It's difficult for me to fathom that any avid movie goer with a heart could give it a low rating. The stars are magnificent - particularly Jimmy Stewart and the luminous Margaret Sullivan. Great, snappy dialogue and poignant emotion are hallmarks of this wonderful production. The entire cast in fact is perfection. Frank Morgan was a great talent and always added a touch of sophistication to so many of his roles. I look forward to seeing this classic every Holiday season and never tire of it. Lubitsch was a master director and ties everything together beautifully. This movie will endure as long as there is joy in the world!
Noel Next Door (2022)
Great, Touching Hallmark Presentation!
This is one of the best Hallmark Holiday offerings. The stars are great and the storyline is fascinating. Natalie Hall has to be one of the most appealing and beautiful young women featured in Hallmark movies. The young actor portraying her son does very well, too and the evolution in his relationship to chief protagonist is an interesting progression. Sometimes, the Hallmark Holiday features stretch credulity and may come off as simplistic, but "Noel Next Door" comes off as plausible. The dialogue is fairly realistic and snappy. The last ten minutes are moving and satisfying for the viewer. I highly recommend it.
