Varshangalkku Shesham (2024)
First half horrible, 2nd half enjoyable
This movie has an ensemble cast and that was the only thing to look forward too during the first half of the movie. The first half was long and boring and I would skip the 1st half if I were to watch it again. When Kalyani entered the movie everyone knew it was going to be horrible, she really could have done better. The dialouges in the 1st half were cringy and everyone hated it. The 2nd Nivin carried, that's the moment we knew the old Nivin was back. There were a lot of cameo references, and seeing singers acting really felt great. Basil also did great and his acting was amazing, just the perfect movie to watch for them. Aju also did a great job, with acting the 2nd half dialogues and acting on the part of Nivin, Basil, and aju and asif Ali were amazing. Definitely give it a watch but it will be boring in the beginning.
Pookkaalam (2023)
Feel good
This movie was a comfort movie, the acting was great on most of the part. The 2 main characters the grandma and the grandpa did really good. The story and the aesthetic was beautiful, and made viewers feel at home. I could only give this film a 7 because it was average with the way the dialogues were written. Especially for the granddaughter who made every scene cringe with the way she spoke and acted. Maybe she would have done better if she had better lines, but other than that actors like Arun Kurian did a great job. I only wished there would be more back story to what happened and how some of the characters ended up the way they did. Overall this movie was calm but just long on other parts while still being funny occasionally. I could say you could watch it once and not get bored of it.
K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022)
Great!
Go watch it, even thought it's sad at some parts it's a must watch for South Indian cinema. The way it brings together love and violence is amazing. The backstories of the characters matter because that's how they were shaped and the way this movie potrays it is good. It felt quick, though boring and long on some parts that were in the present. The arrival of Prakash raj was great, and he really made this movie stand out in my mind. Yash along with srindhi made a great pair and even though at first they didn't seem to match in this movie they did. If you like revenge, dystopian and emotionally attached movies this is the one for you.
Solo (2017)
Needs better rating
This movie being rated this low makes me sad because this is such a good movie that's worth a lot more. Starting off I love the concept of 4 different stories, makes the audience not get bored of anything. Such a great movie, and I love all the actresses and let's talk about dulquer such a great actor. The movie focuses on revenge, forgiveness, betrayal, guilt, grief and many more. Dulquer's styles vary and it stands out and doesn't get boring. The songs in the movie were also so good especially the last one. They all stand out and this movie is a classic and you won't get bored watching it. Go watch it!
Jo and Jo (2022)
Classic and must watch!!
I love this movie so much, it's so gorgeous. If you're looking for a classic Malayalam movie this is it. It made me feel so much at home, from the setting to the acting. The friendship portrayed in this movie is the best, makes you wish you had friends like that. The struggles misunderstanding and ending just make you laugh in the end. Nikhila Vimal does an excellent job being the annoying yet very responsible older sisters. I strived to be her sometimes, and Mathew did a good job being the always annoyed, younger brother, he is a great actor. Naslen is always there for everyone, he is the best with his way of speaking. Melvin is also so cool from the way he dresses to the way he speaks and acts. This movie challenges a lot of sterotypes against women, while being funny and not overdoing it. Such a great movie and such a classic feel good movie, people should definitely watch it.
Unda (2019)
Classic and heartfelt
This movie was beautifully made beginning to end no flaws. The story was beautiful and the emotions portrayed by the characters were amazing. It felt so realistic and the scenes were so smooth. One thing both this movie that sticked out where the characters. The cast was amazing let's talk about the team, Gregory, Lukeman, abhiram, Arjun, shine Tom. These were some of the characters who stuck out, this movie focuses on relationships and friendships between the team. They face a lot of hardships but because together lets them overcome it. The sterotypes and hate this movie breaks is huge. Mammoty sir did such an amazing job without him this movie wouldn't have survived such great acting and such a good role. Hats off to Khalid rahman for this wonderful movie, it's such a classic in my mind now.
Driving Licence (2019)
Average but some parts stood out
This movie was a mix of emotions and hats of to the team for that. The actors did a great job and the acting was smooth and believable. I liked the emotions portrayed, because they felt so deep. The movie was realistic in some sense, there were scenes that made you hate the villain so much. That's how a movie is supposed to be and I know this movie passed that test. But even though it was a good movie some scenes just dragged on and sometimes it felt boring. I would say most of it was in the beginning of the movie, but throughout the end and the middle the movie improved and did well. I would recommend this movie because the actors and the team did a great job on it.
Thiruchitrambalam (2022)
Must watch
This movie was the mix of a cute romance with reality, I loved how both the actors portrayed their emotions made it seem so real. This movie is beautiful with the topic it discusses like relationships with family and parents. The setting the story line and the characters were amazing. Dhanush in this movie was my comfort character, he did so well and he looks so young and confident in this movie. Nithya menon also did well with her acting, seeming so much like a friend we all want. Prakash Raj made me so emotional during some scenes hats off to his acting. His acting and character development should not be missed. The grandfather is such a comfort character and he acted so beautifully. Overall the movie is a must watch go watch it!
Jai Bhim (2021)
2nd half rocks
Personally the first 40 mins of the film were boring and long. The rest of the film was a masterpiece, I'll tell you why. The acting was phenomenal, this movie brought a lot of social issues out to the public. It was filled with violence and hatred the tribes experienced from other people. It was definitely an emotional one, but what stood out was the acting. The actors portrayed the pain and suffering the tribes had gone through, they acted it out naturally. The actors who played the villains, did an amazing job as well. Safe to say their acting just made my hate for the character increase, such great actors! The 2nd half personally, I feel like it went fast. The logics and the evidence the layer used in the film was logical. Suriya played the lawyer and he did such an amazing job, no one can replace his confidence while acting. He played his part of an amazing lawyer, with his powerful speech which made the movie so much more interesting. This film was definitely sad, but it helped almost everyone understand the pain and suffering the tribes go through. It's an amazing movie and the ratings are definitely well deserved.
Hi Nanna (2023)
Averages movie
This movie didn't live up to my expectations but it wasn't really that bad either. Starting out the movie was adorable on Nani's and the child's part. They had such a good father and daughter relationship. They acted so naturally, mrunal also did good in the acting. The one thing I did not like about this movie, was that the concept wasn't my taste. But that's just my very personal opinion, the acting overall wasn't bad. I also feel like mrunal did not have any power playing her character, she was mostly controlled by others which irritated me a lot honestly. The plot twist in the movie was good though, jayaram was another actor who played his role marvelously. It's a good and satisfying watch, but if ur like me and don't like stories that aren't very realistic then this movie might not be for u.
Mahanati (2018)
This movie will live in your hearts forever!!
Mahanati is one of those movies, you watch and can't get over. I loved almost every thing about this movie, it's beautiful. Exploring a time in the past, that was never ever really explained. The whole movie did an amazing job, replicating the past and acting out the stories from the past. The writing was extraordinary, going from the beginning. The background and hard work of savitri is shown, it's beautiful. The village life, the little naughty savitri, the views. They are all beautiful, one thing I did not like about this movie was keerthy would sometimes overact. This is mainly in the beginning of the movie, when she is playing the 14 year old savitri. She acted too much like a baby, and I am pretty sure most 14 year old's are mature at that age. I believe it would have been perfect if they casted a young actor to play the 14 year old savitri. Throughout the middle the film started getting so exciting. I will always remember the scenes and the emotions that went through me as I watched. Dulquer is an actor that excelled with this film, his telegu seemed so natural. He is such a good actor and I feel like the aggression, jealously and selfishness of Gemini ganesan, could only be portrayed by dulquer because he is such an amazing actor. Dulquer's acting made everyone want to hate his character, but also love him because he seemed convincing and loving. Throughout the end, of the film it was sometimes filled with laughter, the ending was sad for one couple but beautiful for another. Samantha and Vijay devarkonda, were fabulous in this film. They were so natural with their acting, it was so beautiful. They have a lot of chemistry when acting together. Their characters fit them so well, and I am glad they were part of this film. Overall this film was beautiful, it will always live in my heart. A few parts of this film were underrated, one of these being the songs. They deserve so much more love, it was so beautiful. Hats off to the artists, it was a mix of the past world and the present world. The instruments used in the songs helped make the movie seem like it was a story in the past, absolutely amazing. The clothes worn in the movie was also gorgeous, they made it so pretty. Combing the old fashion of saree and also western clothes that were famous in the past, it looked good on all of them. This movie was beautiful and is a must watch.
Neru (2023)
Not logical at all
Let me be that one person who deinfluences you to watch this movie. Horrible on almost everyone's part except for mohanlal, answara and her mother. This movie was not natural in any part, everyone acted so fake. The story line was not planned out at all because the scenes would always contrast what happened before. Almost 40 mins of the film was based on some stupid cctv film which honestly was not even necessary. Most of the actors were all so cringe with their acting, the lines and dialogues were so bad. This film tried to get up to drishyam but was an absolute fail, with no twists and no planning.
Bãhubali 2: The Conclusion (2017)
Amazing
Not a single part in this movie that I did not like. It was perfect perfect and perfect. Prabhas coming back with his dual roles, this movie was definitely meant for him and him alone. The revenge thist rana portrayed playing his character bhalla was amazing. Though tammmanh had no role in this movie, anushka did and it was bloody amazing. She is a strong young women not driven by fear, and she is beautiful. This movie gave everyone goosebumps and honestly it is the best Indian movie. Everything was amazing the acting always seemed so natural and Prabhas looked so good. Their clothes everything was detailed and the ending oh my gosh was amazing. Must watch!!
Bãhubali: The Beginning (2015)
Movie has my heart
I have been blown away by this movie so many times. I have watched it over and over again and it is amazing. Only rajamouli can come up with a movie this good, and present it this way. Prabhas was fit to play this role and as someone who loves royal era movie everything seemed fit in this movie. The parts about revenge the parts about love and hate were all presented amazingly by this cast and team. Bahubali is a movie that will always be in every south Indian's heart. Tammanah and anushka were so pretty and fit for the role. The detailing they added to everything was amazing, the cgi was believable and presented beautifully. This movie is a must watch, it's just perfect.
Salaar: Cease Fire - Part 1 (2023)
Well written and amazing!!
I was waiting all year for this film to release and I am very grateful that I got to watch it. Going back all the way to the beginning of the movie, I loved it. The characters did such a wonderful job and their voice oh my gosh!! Prabhas in the first part was just amazing. Salaar was such a good comeback for him and the setting of the movie was brilliant making it a present and disatopian at the same time. One person I thought did not act well was shruthi, I just did not like how weak and annoying she was. I did not like her accent or acting, though I think she is really pretty. So far I have no idea why they even added her in the movie, because even though she is important she could have been easily avoided. Going back to the film the first half was amazing and prithivi's intro was amazing!!! The 2nd half was good as well but somewhere along I got kind of bored because I felt like it was dragging on to long. The names of characters and their relationships to each other all became a blur to me. I would have preferred if they didn't overcrowd the film with too many people. But overall the fighting was amazing, there was a lot of action and the plot twists were amazing!! Whoever comes up with these types of stories needs an award. I can't wait for part 2 of salaar and I will be waiting.
Love,
Movie fan.
Dear Comrade (2019)
7 and 7 only
I believe the movie deserves at least a 7 and no more than that. I personally did think Vijay did a good job playing his character. I just so think that when he and his "gang" appeared. It was sometimes humorous because it just looked like there were too many people. Another thing I didn't like about this movie was that it was fast paced during the beginning and the middle but the end it dragged on. Rashmika did a good job playing her character as well, but there were some scenes which felt like she was giving "pick me" vibes. Sometimes her character just made me so frustrated. Her character would do something wrong and make it seem so emotional when someone else does the same thing to her. Though it was only her character and I think she did a good job acting. The romance in the film was pretty decent, and the main issue of the film was not even revealed until 2 hrs in. One thing I liked in the film was the character change Vijay would go through, there were times where he acted arrogant and times when he acted mature. Overall it was worth watching, and I would recommend it to people, and I just wish rashmika's character could have been less annoying during some scenes.
Hridayam (2022)
Cringy and waste of time
I wondered why so many people like this film. I just don't get it, Pranav and Kalyani they can't act. Darshana has so much potential but ended up choosing this film to act in. All the lines are cringy and who the hell ends up quoting random English lines in the middle of their dialogue. This film could have been so much better without Kalyani believe me Kalyani is really pretty but she cannot act. This movie, she acted so cringe with her dialogues, horrible. I expected so much more, the only part I liked where the songs which hesham did amazing on. I liked the bond that they all had, but I hated the fact that it was so fast paced. Not even gonna talk about how the scenes are so cliché, please do not give awards to movies that are cringy and do not hype up movies that are not good just because they have good looking actors in there. All of their acting could have taken them somewhere but ended up in a movie which was so boring and a very hard watch.
Leo (2023)
Mass
I love lokesh for coming up with these type of movies. I love Vijay for accepting these type of movies, the best collab ever. The movie was so interesting, and exciting, the bgms from anirudh was a chef's kiss. Talent in this film is amazing, the acting was so accurate and they all look like they were made for each other. Trisha, Matthew, and the little girl. They acted so naturally and Vijay acted amazing with his style, emotions and I loved the cameo of napoleon. Sanjay dutt and Arjun came in at the right time. Making everyone move to the edge of their seats. The backstory of Leo the plot twist and everything is so interesting. This movie is a must watch!!
Bheeshmaparvam (2022)
Amazing
I love this movie with all my heart, all the family dynamics and drama was amazing. Don't even talk about the bgm, it was so good hats off to Sushin Shyam. I was on the edge of my seat watching this, though I feel like the ending was a little hurried. Mammoka did an amazing job, his acting his lines, his emotions, his style everything was amazing. It spoke about injustices and hatred, for a simple reason. The revenge part of this movie was amazing and everything seemed logical. I absolutely love this movie and it's one of my all time favorites. Shine Tom is another person who acted so well, his acting seems so serious but is sometimes so funny. The family dynamic is fun and exciting and it's so interesting that the setting of the movie was in the past.
Master Peace (2023)
Funny but overdramatic
The first few episodes were funny time to time but I honestly felt like the acting was lacking a lot. Nithya menon is an incredible actress and she has done a lot of films and I did not expect her to act in a series. But she acted so artificially in this series, I love her but her expressions and acting were so much and did not fit the mood of the film at all. Sharaf on the other hand did a good job and I think he was almost the only one who acted naturally. Even Parvathi Malaa was overacting. The camera crew would do all these unnecessary zoom-ins and it just made the series look more dramatic. Shanthi, Ashokan, and renji panicker on the other hand did good. Maybe they had to act based on their characters and since nithya acted like someone raised in Bangalore she did have an accent when speaking in Malayalam. I can ignore that, but all the overacting from the mother and the daughter in law was totally unnecessary and could have been avoided. But I also feel like the series did a good job explaining how a small thing can be twisted and changed into a big matter. I also loved the cameo of Roshan Mathew. Overall it's a good watch but I feel like some actors could have acted naturally, and i believe it's a good series to watch with your family.
Falimy (2023)
A must watch
Safe to say I have watched almost every single one of Basil's movie and I have not been disappointed. This movie is a roller coaster of emotions and the development the characters go through is beautiful. It's such a classic comedy movie, for families to watch, I found it absolutely amazing. The scenes were unique and well written and the actors portrayed their character really well. The situations they were in were funny but the actors did an excellent job keeping their personalities. Personally, I would be watching this movie over and over again. Also feel like this is one of the hit movies this year. A little bit about the storyline it revolves around a father mother grandfather and 2 sons, all who have a not so good relationship with each other. Throughout the movie, one can see the changes and reasons to why a certain character acts the way they do. Such a beautiful masterpiece and I cannot wait to see more movies like this.
Kannur Squad (2023)
Mammotty is a LEGEND
I had high expectations for this film and safe to say this movie really did meet my standards. The plot was original and not cliche at all. The fight scenes were great and did not look fake at all. The movie was so interesting people were on the edge of the seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. Mammotty and his team acted so naturally and we could see all the betrayal, friendships and reconciliation throughout the film. The viewers were misguided so many times throughout the films, there were plot twists were you least expected them. I would have given the film 10 stars but I feel like there were some parts that were left incomplete they weren't major parts most viewers probably don't even notice but we did. I also would have given it to 10 stars if they had given Sushin Shyam more opportunities to show off this music and bgm. Don't get me wrong I loved the music but I feel like sushin could have made even better music if he had more opportunities. There were like 2 songs in the movie and I felt like we needed more music and more bgm. I know sushin can do more music if there was time, but I also felt that since it was a thriller and there needed to be a lot of talking sushin wasn't able to fit in bgms in the middle like in kurup and bheeshmaparvam. The beginning scene where the music came in was amazing it gave everyone goosebumps and everyone was praising sushin for it. Sushin did a great job with the music in conclusion. Overall this movie was amazing the whole team was amazing and I would recommend it to every mammokka fan I know. I really hope to see movies like this in the future, can't wait!!
