The Gerson Miracle (2004)
Dangerous propaganda
I'll be honest: I have not personally watched this movie. I did, however, listen to the entire review by the God Awful Movie team. I am also a science enthusiast who reads a lot of stories, both books (such as "The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer") and blogs (such as "Science Based Medicine"), about medicine. Max Gerson is a crank who I wouldn't let treat a hangnail. This movie goes on and on about "chemicals" hurting people seemingly without any awareness that the carrots, coffee, and other foods the recommend are, wait for it, made of chemicals!
Did you know that Dihydrogen-Monoxide can kill you? Yet you consume vast quantities of it every day. Yes, that is a silly, gotcha, example since H2O is just water. Yet too much or too little can kill you. That's true for every other chemical and element (e.g., oxygen) your body needs to survive. Context and dose is important. There are thousands of chemicals and trace elements your body requires in minute quantities but too much can cause illness and death.
The only positive review as I write this is by @drakkar91 (8/10 stars) and their review headline uses the meaningless term "natural healing". Guess what? Cyanide is natural. Hemlock is natural. Arsenic is natural. But I wouldn't recommend ingesting any of those in an attempt to cure what ails you.
Beyond the medically dangerous propaganda espoused by this film it is simply awful in terms of its cinematic qualities: acting, directing, dialog, story, etc.
A Wrestling Christmas Miracle (2020)
Awful, even by Xtian and Del Vechio standards
I, thankfully, did not watch this abomination. I did, however, listen to the review by the God Awful Movies team. Note that I employ a 1 to 5 scale when rating movies because I feel anything more fine grained is silly. So my two star rating really means one star. Nonetheless, I was sorely tempted to give this a single star as an indication that it has zero redeeming values. If Ken Del Vechio had been a film school student this, and every one of his other films, would have been graded as a failure. Even his previous film, "A Karate Christmas Miracle" was (marginally) better than this stillborn waste of celluloid.
The Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club (2013)
Awful even by Christian movie standards
If you think watching paint dry is exciting and emotionally engaging you might like this movie. This is a rare case where I would give a movie zero stars if that were possible. Bad acting. Bad dialog. Bad directing. Watching three old men walk slowly for three minutes is not my idea of an engaging scene.
God's Not Dead: We the People (2021)
"Mind Boggling" indeed
What is mind boggling is that someone used the phrase unironically to praise this movie. The first film in this series was actually okay and a bit above average for a christian film. Yes, it had plenty of straw men and other problems but by xtian film standards it wasn't bad. Each subsequent film in this franchise has been worse than the previous one. This film has many, many, flaws. It wallows in its persecution fantasy. But the worst sin it makes is actually making the case that xtian home schooling deserves more scrutiny and regulation. The exact opposite of the point it intended to make. To really appreciate how awful this film is you need to listen to the review by the "God Awful Movies" podcast team.
The Art of Racing in the Rain (2019)
Worth a watch but nowhere near as good as the book
Some movie adaptations are as good as the book. "The Martian" is one example. Sometimes the movie is better than the book. "No Country for Old Men" comes to mind. Sometimes the book is better than the movie. Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" is an example as is the book that inspired this movie.
This is a decent feel-good movie and an okay adaptation of the book. But the book, especially the audiobook, is far richer and emotionally engaging. If you enjoyed this movie at all you owe it to yourself to read/listen to the book.
Sing Over Me (2014)
lifelong struggle with homosexuality
The phrase "lifelong struggle with homosexuality" is a red flag. The only reason people "struggle with homosexuality" is because of religious dogma. No one (other than closeted non-heterosexuals) "struggles with heterosexuality". Yet you never hear that phrase. The "God Awful Movies" ("GAM") team has a scathing review of this movie which should be listened to by anyone who thinks this is a good movie.
Unité 42 (2017)
Might be okay if you know absolutely nothing about computers and cyber security
I'm a software engineer. The technical aspects of the first episode are complete bollocks. It's possible that the characters and stories in subsequent episodes are decent. But episode one failed on all three counts. Clearly the writers did not have any competent technical advisors.
7 Reasons (2019)
Predictable, even considering that it's from Ray "Banana Man" Comfort
Really, the best review of this predictable, awful, movie is by the team who does the "God Awful Movies" podcast. The movie is full of the usual distortions, outright lies (e.g., fetal heartbeat at six weeks), and just generally bad arguments for the xtian position that abortion is always wrong. To realize how awful and idiotic xtians can be on this topic note that Rep. Steve King (R-IA) recently stated that without incest and rape humanity might have gone extinct. Granted, he was trying to use that as justification for why he does not support exceptions to abortion bans in the case of incest or rape. But it perfectly illustrates the stupidity of your typical fundagelical.
