Willo the Wisp (1981)
The best children's programme of all time (bar Bagpuss)
I absolutely loved this - I used to go miles out of my way just to free up those five minutes before tea time when Willo the wisp was shown. It had all those magic ingredients that spark a child's imagination - a wicked villain (Evil Edna), an omniscient narrator (the wisp) and a flawed protagonist (Mavis the fat fairy). There was also the Moog, which inspired my friend so much that she determined to call every dog she ever owned by that fantastic name the Moog. I think to a certain extent we never quite forget the characters who by their presence on the small screen introduce us to magic and the world outside reality. They have stayed with me to the extent that now at the grand age of my mid twenties I am going to go and spend £10.99 on the complete Willo the wisp on video.
Jeepers Creepers (2001)
This is the worst film in the world - Possible Spoilers (If possible to spoil it further))
Horror film protagonists have never come this stupid and that as you know really is saying something. This brother and sister coupling make a decision at the start of the film that completely ruined it for me. Basically the bit when instead of going to the nearest police station and reporting what may or may not at that time have been someone chucking a body down a chute they decide to go to the aforementioned chute and climb down it. This, I add, knowing that it is the haunt of a particulary psycho individual...... Ok there would have been no film if I imposed my end on it. But why?? would anybody else have gone back??? No (except possibly old Syd a la Scream) And then this killer turns out to be some kind of quirky goblin. Terrifying? Not at all. Sophisticated cinema audiences demand a killer who doesn't gobble along to third rate jazz music and who isn't necessarily some kind of supernatural joke. Some weird people found this frightening, so I suggest they go and watch something like Bambi because thats the only film I can think of that is less frightening. Like I said - the worst film in the world
