Now, let me start by saying that i just finished 24, season 5.
I started watching all the DVDs from season 1, about a month ago, and i'm starting today the 6th one.
The good thing about 24 is that it is very entertaining, the general idea is very good, acting is very good, most characters are very well done, and the action is very well played.
Also, each chapters finishes with you wanting to see more.
Now, the main problem is its name: 24.
Why? Because it means the writers have to stretch a chapter during 24 episodes/transmissions.
On a normal series, even if all chapters are linked, histories start and end in one chapter, at most 3. But no with 24: it is one big chapter stretched over 24 episodes.
And the problem is that it is very difficult to extend a chapter for 24 episodes, so the writers have to do very crazy things to do so, and they end up doing things to characters that are too much, like you can see a prisoner captured/escaped 6 times on the whole season.
If "24" would have been called "8" or even "12", the show would have been much better, and be a 10, instead of an 8.
