The Loud House (2021)
This movie was better than its rating wanted me to think.
I was interested in the story. I understood and related to Lincoln's motives to feel like he's someone special.
And I thought the plot of the Louds visiting Scotland was interesting, even if it wasn't anything particularly groundbreaking. It doesn't have to be.
Furthermore, I only ask two things of animated movies; good songs (if there are any) and likeable characters. And I wholeheartedly believe that the Loud House Movie delivered in both.
My favorite song HAS to be "Ordinary Me". But I liked Morag's song, too.
None of the Louds feel out of character, so it has that going for it. I really liked Angus and Lucille, and I thought Morag was fine as a villain.
Sure, this movie had its moments, like when the Louds move to Scotland solely because their house only had one bathroom (which, honestly, I understood). Wasn't a fan of that. But they all went home in the end, so I won't hold that against them.
In conclusion, I think this movie deserves a higher IMDB rating. It's nothing groundbreaking, but the movie's characters, songs, and heartwarming message makes it a worthy watch in my opinion. Even if it wasn't very well animated (or received, by critics), I will definitely be rewatching this sometime soon.
The Loud House: No Such Luck/Frog Wild (2017)
Oh... Oh dear.
Ten stars for Frog Wild. Seven redacted for No Such Luck.
I can relate to Frog Wild because I would rather hold a Cane Toad than dissect a frog. I'm sorry, but who honestly walks into school in the morning thinking "Boy oh boy, I can't wait to split a frog open and see it's guts today!"? I have nothing against classes who do this, I just don't understand WHY...
No Such Luck is REALLY not appreciated. It's considered the worst Loud House episode, and after watching it, I can say that is it rightfully so. Today, let's watch Lincoln get actively neglected from his family because they think he's 'bad luck'. Does this sound like fun? While I understand that Lincoln didn't have to try to weasel his way out of family activities, but how he's treated after Lynn's softball game overshadows this!
I don't hate Lynn. At all. But jeez, the writers went out of their way to make her a HORRIBLE human being! As well as the rest of the family! Who thought watching a full 10-or-so minutes of Lincoln being tortured... funny?! And to top it off, the ending is probably one of the worst in the show, when the poor kid has to stay in that stupid squirrel costume under the beating sun on the beach, several feet away from his family. This episode was... unpleasant.
HOWEVER. There are three good things about this episode: Lynn's apology seemed genuine, it is paired with a much better episode, and we never see that squirrel suit again after this episode.
