scarily annoying
ok i'll make this short 'coz it really isn't worth my time: i had my hopes up going in and knowing nothing about it at all, but this movie was a real sucker and i was soooo annoyed by Twohy's understanding of horror. had it not been for the 2 litres of coke and my girlfriend spastically jerking and clutching my hand at every "scare", i would've had a nice 90 minutes of sleeping time. so the real problem is: a movie that tries to scare the viewers every 1-2 minutes by making a loud noise (a door slamming shut, something falling off a table, someone suddenly coming around a corner, etc.) is just sooooooooooooo cheap! i mean COME ON!!! i was totally annoyed and bored 30 min into it. also, anyone could see the end coming 40 minutes into it and that doesn't particularly help in drawing your attention. skip this movie!
*SPOILER*
one question: maybe i was just sweepy by the end (that coke didn't help enough it seems) but it appeared to me that Brice shoots himself in the head TWICE!?!?! all info shall be appreciated.

Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs (1987)
Totally awesome!
this is one of the series that i loved the most as a kid. and i'm really surprised that there is only one comment on it so far even though this on par with classics like Captain Future and Bravestar. if u get the chance to see this on tv or anywhere else then TAKE IT! it's action-packed and the story never lets you down! a definite fav!
the theme song is pretty cool and memorable as well. ;)
South Park (1997)
Towelie- you gotta love him...
This is one of my definite faves as i have seen each and every single episode at least once. seasons 1 and 2 were absolutely hilarious and can be recommended to everyone (old enough and open enough to handle it). then, as the third season rolled in, one could clearly notice the lack of ideas trey and matt seemed to have, some episodes turned out real classics nevertheless. it kinda dragged along up to season 6, which started to air this year and is in its break 'till june (if i'm not completely wrong).
the episode with Osama BL totally p****d me off!!!!!!! i am NOT american and i'm not anti-american either but this was just more than i could handle since it was aired quite shortly after september 11th and the US attacks on afghanistan. it was tasteless (usually one of SP's most outstanding qualities) and if they tried to make some kind of political statement, then i didn't get it. another reviewer expressed his hate for the towelie-episode.... i have to agree: the episode truly sucked b***s and bored me. but introducing Towelie as a character was something i'm thankful for until this day (he reappears in "professor chaos"/Season 6 and i LOVED the scene where he tries to play "stairway to heaven" but ultimately fails since he's far too stoned... as usual. it SO much reminded me of a few guys i used to hang around with... damn it reminds me of MYSELF! ;) ). let's not forget good old Mr. Hankey (the christmas poo) whom we've all come to love over the years.
there are the ones who like nothing more than SP and there are the ones who detest it. the choice is up 2 you. but i will always respect this series most for its first 2 seasons... season 6 is notably going back to the roots of the series and i like it that way. let's just hope it stays like this and that trey & matt will know when the time has come to say "it's over".
".....i have totally no idea what's goin' on...." 8-)
Sureiyâzu (1995)
Not the best anime ever made
I watched this one the other day... it was late and i felt like watching something short 'cause i was pretty tired already.
i'm not familiar with the tv-series but i thought this couldn't be a bad entry to the series... well i haven't watched any episodes yet.. that speaks for the interest in the subject that this movie-experience invoked within my person :-)
it's only an hour or so and throughout the 60 minutes it keeps up its fast pace and cheeky dialogue. **MINOR SPOILER*** but just WHY is it that nagha teams up with nagha? or where they in a team before and just happened to be briefly separated? the film doesn't make that clear enough, in my opinion.*** i hate to disagree with everyone who's very excited about Nagha and the interesting qualities of her character (i can only think of 2 though :b) but WHY OH WHY does she have to LAUGH like that? is that her special trademark or some stupid marketing joke and does it expand to the series as well?! I HATE IT!!! for the love of all the that is good and true... how can anyone find this funny?!! her laughter made me wanna smash some script-writer's face in every time it penetrated my eardrums.
all in all i can say that the movie was entertaining to watch for the most part, though still a loooong stretch from what i consider GOOD anime. also, i thought that the plot was kind of forced and the main characters were not really interested in what was going on ***spoiler***(except the breast-growing pond)*** . the fact that it's short & spicy could well be considered it's most outstanding qualities. :p
i give it a 6 for the ***Spoiler*** battle between the sea-cucumbers and the jelly fish!!!***
From Hell (2001)
"Sleepy Hollow"-Syndrome
I had serious problems trying to enjoy this movie as it obviously suffers from "Sleepy Hollow Syndrome" (SHS). I'll try to explain what I mean: The most important fact that made me dislike this Hollywood production was the more than clumsily written script.... simply put: it was LAME. Throughout the whole 2 hours I did not give a damn about what would happen to the characters or who the killer really was. Just as in "SH", none of the characters were able to draw the viewer's attention for more than 5 minutes. And, also a trademark of the SHS, the ending was completely unsatisfying since it made the impression as if it were hastily put together only to reveal that the murderer ***SPOILER*** was someone that you didn't give s***t about at all. ***end of SPOILER*** Well, I would still prefer SH over this bore of a movie any day. I haven't read any of the graphic novels this film is supposedly based on but if the storyline therein is as dull as what the viewer is offered here, then I doubt it would have ever been adapted for the silver screen. The plot has many holes that were seemingly just put in there to make the whole thing longer (115 minutes!!! there was enough plot for about 60).
***SPOILERS AHEAD*** Why is this whole drug-addiction-vision thing so important anyway?!! It doesn't add to the suspense and the sequences aren't even interesting to watch when you're ON drugs.... I think that says a lot. What meaning or possible plot relevancy is there behind the odd lesbian relationship between some of the whores?!? I DID NOT GET IT! If anyone did, then please take the time to explain it to me!! I'd really appreciate it: ;) Why Oh Why did it have to end like this?!!! It's the ending that I had been expecting since the first 30 minutes or so!!! I knew who he was all along!!! That's not what a thriller is supposed to be like! I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHO JTR WAS!!!! At least it shouldn't be someone like the killer portrayed in "From Hell".
Well what else is there to say? The pathetic acting (with the cheesiest part delivered by good ol' Heather G.) was not helped by the poor accents.... and usually I'm very generous when it comes to accents. The whole drama thing was about as involving as an episode of "Denver Clan" and Johnny D. couldn't convince me that he really wanted to make a good movie. I like many of Johnny Depp's works (especially Dead Man and Fear And Loathing... ;-) ) but I believe that he should've just skipped this one (and a few others, mind you).
Ok, so to sum it up: DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE! It may have some (very little) gore but it's not enough to keep slasher-fans interested. There's no historical correctness either, so anyone interested in the Jack the Ripper story will be very disappointed as well. And there isn't enough original plot, almost no good acting and only fairly impressive camerawork.... so it won't be a treat for any of you moviemaniacs out there either. Don't say I didn't warn you!
The Elephant Man?!?! .... for what reason I ask!!!!
Quella villa accanto al cimitero (1981)
Was I the only one to notice?!
I won't spend time on examination of the plot (or the lack of it), since most reviewers have done this already. But something that came to my mind after having read some of the other comments on this page was, that noone seemed to notice the strange behaviour of the father.
*SPOILERS*
Why did he take so long to react when his wife was being attacked by the "Uber-Bat" (which seemed to have more liters of blood in it than an average human)??? He just stood there watching for some time as if he wasn't sure whether he wanted to help his wife or just leave her there.
And was the whole babysitter thing thrown in there for no reason at all?!!! She must have known about Freudstein in the cellar, since she opened the door for him, cleaned up the mess after the murder and she was obviously evil too. but WHY did she do all of this?!!
the universal answer for this movie's loose ends is: We'll never know....
If anyone has an idea or a theory.... please post it!
It still has its scares though.
