Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)
Might not be what it's aiming to be, but an awesome watch regardless
Yeah, the movie's not super scary, but I don't care to be honest. We don't need another generic slasher horror movie, and Five Nights at Freddy's helps bring a bit more substance to the genre. We get legitimately emotional moments with the characters and some humor to lighten things up after tense moments. There wasn't a single time I was scared, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have an awesome time watching this movie. Lots of small details and easter eggs, an original take on a familiar story, and overall a great movie. Some of the jokes didn't quite land, but the ones that did were executed very well.
I recommend this movie to long-time fans, but newer fans might not care as much. After all, this is a movie with nearly a decade of hype backing it up.
DuckTales: The 87 Cent Solution! (2019)
One of the funniest episodes in recent cartoon history
This episode was hilarious; all the emotional tension buildup leading to a moment where we truly believe Scrooge has died due to his own greed. The funeral scene honestly felt completely legitimate for a minute. And then having Glomgold burst in while "All I do is Win" starts playing is the single funniest moment in cartoon history. Please, I urge you to watch the whole series leading up to this point if you haven't already. It's so worth it. It's a perfect mix of ridiculousness and emotion leading up to an incredibly hilarious final act where Glomgold reveals a shockingly well-thought (and well-written) plan to take down Scrooge, only for Scrooge and his family to reveal that they had a scheme of their own the whole time. I don't know why this episode is rated so low, it's honestly one of the best ones in the series.
