Fantastic Adaptation
10 January 2024
Is it exactly like the books? No. Is it waaaaaaay better than the movies at capturing the plot and messaging of the books? 100% no contest. The acting is fantastic! I just finished watching episode 5, and these kids had me in tears. The three leads really showed their ability in this one, esp. Walker and Leah (if you've watched ep. 5 you know which scene I'm talking about!) The changes that have been made are necessary for a show format. You can't have everything, and sometimes stuff has to change. For the most part, they have been amazingly accurate, more than most book to show/movie adaptations. Plus, the changes make it more interesting for book readers! Can't wait for the rest of the season, and for many more seasons after!

Brilliant, touching film about family and acceptance!
10 November 2023
A must watch for anyone from Pittsburgh! The Burgh actually feels like a character in this movie. Truly an amazing film to see, especially when paired with a Q&A with the film-making team. Saw it at Film Pittsburgh's Three Rivers Film Festival!

The poignant message of acceptance and living your truth is beautifully paired with a hilarious cast. Some moments had me cracking up, while others brought tears to my eyes. The acting is excellent, though the child actor is a bit raw (as expected from a 12-year-old in their first proper role). I'm looking forward to recommending this film to everyone I know! Go see this movie!
