Madame Web (2024)
Another mediocre to weak written superhero movie
Went to see this movie last night. First of I must say that I saw worse Superhero movie, up 'till now the Flash is the worst for me.
As far as staying true to the original content (comics) i can't comment since I'm not familiar with them. The main inconsistency was that, it is said this movie is set in the same universe and before the "Tobey McGuire" Spiderman movie.
But in 2003 Spiderman already existed and in Madame Webb (also set in 2003) peter Parker is born????? Did I miss something here???
Furthermore i thought it was a mediocre Superhero movie wich is the norm lately, sad but true. But as I said it was at best Ok to watch.
Fright Night (1985)
A bad genre combination
Wanted to see this movie for a while now and tonight I've seen. Seen it for the first time and never again, won't even bother to watch the original sequel, maybe the remakes but just maybe.
The plot was too hilarious for words. A hysterical teenager who wants to proof that his new neighbour is a vampire and enlists a tv show host to help him kill the vampire.
The acting was also not the best, the most annoying character was this guy with the nickname "Evil". The this tv host guy, jeez what was that suppossed to mean.
I wanted to see another '80 Horror movie, but this one is at best watchable if your completely drunk or high. Otherwise don't bother.
Spotlight (2015)
A well told story about a shamefull truth within the Catholic church
This could be a movie directed by Ben Affleck and produced by artist equity, i compared it to "Argo" and "Air". I am not familiar with other movies directed by Tom McCarthy but if he has more movies like this, let them come.
The topic of the story got to me, it's definitely not something to turn a blind eye to. It's a problem that shamefully is always present.
The story is told well I believe, it shows how the newspaper wants to expose the child molesting within the Catholic church.
For me the thing with these kind of movies, based on reallife events (if done well), is that afterwards it makes me want to check out the real story. And this is a good example of it, i'm going to read about it.
The Flash (2023)
A messy blurry movie
After many obstacles we've finally got to see the Flash and it was a disappointment.
The bickering between the two Barry's was annoying and ofcourse the CGI was a laughing stock. Really the only goog thing was to see Michael Keaton as Batman again and even that was not handled properly. The multiverse was badly explained with the spheres.
For a movie that's been in development for many years, it is a great example of how Warner Bros. Is
Struggling and cannot make up Their mind in wich direction to go. Countless rewrites, reshoots and than we get this???? For Pete's sake. I think that WB explained to us how what the movie is in the "Spaghetti scene" with Michael Keaton.
Enjoyable? Well maybe a few scenes but in general it was really badly written, not gonna watch it again.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023)
DC dies out like a small flame instead of a bang.
Today I went to see the movie and found it not all that bad, i've seen worse Superhero movies, like the Flash. The tongue in cheek things like, seeing his Aquaman suit hanging to dry is not my thing, don't like this humor in this genre.
I'm not really acquinted with Aquaman, never read the comics nor am I acquinted with many other Superheroes from DC or Marvel. The character is portrayed like a bum and seeing Jason Momoa in other roles, I find he often plays bums, I don't like the actor in particular. And why Nicole Kidman is in there is beyond me and Patrick Wilson for that matter. They're too good of an actors for these kind of movies. I thought Amber Heard had to be seen far less, just in one scene from what I read.
The story is typical and somewhat lazy but it's entertaining and that's what counts for this genre right?, it's meant to be light and not to think about it too much. And it was just that.
Sound of Freedom (2023)
A throte grapping and heartwrenching movie
I went to see this movie today after postponing for a time but man, what a effect this movie had on me.
I was so upset troughout the movie, mainly angry.
I had this feeling that, man oh man what I would like to do to such a pedophile.
This is a subject that is brought to little to attention and reminded me of a movie called 8mm with Nicholas Cage. You hear so many things about drugs, murder and other injustice but you hear and see rarely about childtrafficking and sexual abuse.
And as we were told at the end of the movie it's a serious problem, bigger than drugs and armsdealing.
I was surprised to see Jim Caviezel in a movie again, didn't see him since the passion of the Christ. To me he seems not a particular good actor, playing a bit stiff.
It's really a shame that it took 5 years to release it,
I wonder what the problem where?
A really good movie that graps you by the throat so to speak and wrenches your heart.
Air (2023)
Another winning piece of work by Ben Affleck
Well what can I say? I really really enjoyed this movie. Ben Affleck creating another masterpiece of a movie here, with his and Matt Damon's new company "Artists equity". Great to see Ben and Matt playing together again
I have to stick with what someone said that the simplicity of the movie is also it's strength. No big sets, no big plotholes or any kind of these things, just great actors and filmmakers and you get something like this. I just don't understand that it hasn't made more money
Recently I saw the (2009) movie "State of play" and thought to myself that it could've been made by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. That's how good I think it was.
I really think that Ben and Matt's production company is a great asset to the film industry. Can't wait for future projects, keep it comming.
The Marvels (2023)
A needless movie
Last evening i went to see this movie but it wasn't worth the watch. I watched the tv show "Mrs Marvel" and was curious what this movie could add to. Storywise They could add this story as maybe 3 more episodes to Mrs Marvel instead of making a movie of it.
Hate to say it but seeing Brie Larson act is a pain for the eyes, everytime just big eyes and an awkward facial expression, like she didn't know what to say or how to act. People are right to say that Marvel is in a downward spiral, no descent storywriting. Everything after "Endgame" is bad, like Marvel doesn't know how to move on. It's repeating past stories.
Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)
Just another episode of a teen horror tv show
Last week i went to see this movie and i wasn't much satisfied. Troughout the whole movie i had the feeling that i was watching an episode from the tv show "Goosebumps" (inspired by R. L Stine's teenage books) or from "Are you afraid of the dark?". Is this suppossed to be an R-rated horror movie?, it's far from it.
It lacked almost every ingredient of what a horror movie should have, no jumpscares, nore gore. Maybe when the ghost boy turned around and had black eyes, that was a little bit frightening. But such things also appear in the above mentioned tv shows.
Giving it a 4 out of 10 is all that this movie desserves.
