Animal (2023)
Now this is called a real movie
I stopped watching indian movies since the early 2000s because it was the same old nonsense in every film... no creativity or real talent, just a pile of rubbish covered with cheap glitter.
Anyway... watched this film expecting to see two people singing on a hill and changing clothes every 5 minutes. But to my surprise there was none of that...no cringe acting, no cheesy lines, no stupid predictable story line. It was a solid story line with some great acting. I would say without a doubt the best indian film I've ever seen. For once it wasn't a cringe fest but actually showing the reality rather than some fantasy world where everything and everyone is perfect.
I think anyone who gave this a bad review should stick to Salman Khan's cheesy films dancing in his skin tight jeans.
Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)
If you don't have patience you won't like this
If you are expecting anything fast paced like Scorsese's older movies then you will hate this movie. Watching this felt more like reading a non fiction book than watching a movie. I'm still glad I watched this as had no idea about the Osage history and what they went through. So if you want to educate yourself about this part of history it will be worthwhile, but I still think this was dragged out way too long. Scorsese seems to be dragging out his stories alot lately which is ruining his legacy. I won't be so excited next time his movie is released because its taken a different turn from the movies he did best like Goodfellas, Casino and Wolf of Wall Street. Why can't the movies be made like these classics anymore?
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)
Main character ruins the movie
Great cars and chase scenes in this movie. Based in Tokyo it made the perfect setting for a movie like this. So everything is great and this should easily be 9/10 movie but one thing and one thing only ruins this movie completely..... the main actor. How can the directors pick the most unlikable actor when everything else was spot on. I get the character in the movie is supposed to be some annoying juvenile but there were probably hundreds of other actors that would have played this role a million times better, even ones that are not overly famous. For example...Sean Faris (main actor from 'never back down') would have been perfect. But even Borat would have done a better job than the current actor. Completely missed opportunity for potentially one of the best films in this franchise.
The Covenant (2023)
Another great execution by Guy Ritchie, but......
I have always liked Guy Ritchie movies. The way this story was told and executed was excellent.
But the only thing that lets it down is the propaganda portraying America as the good guys coming to make Afghanistan a better country. Kind of like the mindset of typical Fox News and CNN viewers, which does make you feel like you've lost a brain cell when absorbing the story.
But credit given where its due. If we put politics aside and just watch this as an individual story it was really well put together. The best scene was Ahmed carrying Mckinley up the mountain roads on a cart, you could feel the frustration and emotion in this scene, the music used was perfect. Well done Guy Ritchie for trying something different.
