Argylle (2024)
Surprise sleeper!
Yes, this film was really a surprise sleeper... I really dreaded going to this movie... the trailer was not as good as it should have been. I'm really shocked that the film was so good. Made me laugh a lot. This really is an action film with a good rom-com b-line.
Argyle was like an Old-fashioned feel good movie. Left the theater feeling just like I did after watching Romancing the Stone. Everyone in the theater had the same energy.
Howard, Rockwell and Cavill, and the rest of the cast performed well... good writing. Unusual premise and writing twist... initially jarring but just fall-into the film and go with it.
Ferrari (2023)
Not enough material
-Good acting
-Interesting casting choices I would not have made.
-Story was lacking. Not enough material to make a good story.
Kind of flat... not a lot highs and lows.
-Crash scene was gratuitous. The showing of body parts to prove the dangers of racing should've been happened sooner rather than the end. No where does the film elude to this kind of graphic morbid detail... it's shocking and not in a good way. Wreckless with audience members.
-The tension between Ferrari winning or losing was never achieved... Maserati seemed like an after thought. The stakes were high but never got that sense from the script.
-A film told through Laura's (Penelope's) POV would've been much more interesting. She held the marriage card, the money card, and the Italian honor card.
Uncharted (2022)
Walberg Woes
This film just reaffirms my theory that Mark Wahlberg should not be in entertainment. Besides the just plan bad acting and playing himself... many times Im reminded of his criminal history. It's too obvious that there a movement to remake himself.
Bullet Train (2022)
The Little Train that Couldn't.
Not even Pitt could save this movie. Rarely have I been so disappointed in a film... nothing original, funny or even interesting. Pitt played himself, which all know needs a partner to reflex off of. Love Pitt but this gets a low, low rating from me.
Knallerfrauen (2011)
Funny as hell!
One of the funniest shows I've seen come out of Germany recently!
