Midnight Mass (2021)
It's ok. The long monologues ruin it
The blabbering made me fall asleep more than once. Also I didn't really get the character arches here.... Don't think there are any.

Miss Americana (2020)
When you thought you knew someone but you didn't
Again, for who knows what time, I was fooled by an image the media fed me.
What can I say... From thinking Taylor is a cold privileged b, I now understand I was way off. I recommend watching this film and to Taylor I send my hug and support <3
The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez (2020)
Important , disturbing, haunting , infuriating
First of all rest in peace little angel /:
I'm literally crying and shaking after viewing this. Evil exists and it makes horror movies look like a family comedy.
Gabriel was failed by so many people on so many levels, the very same people who were supposed to love and protect him.
Watch this gripping piece of terrible evidence to see what goes on in the American system that just doesn't work. As you're watching think about how many Gabriel's exist that we don't know about?
Love your children, protect them.
If you see a child abused treat them as if it is your own.
Handsome Devil (2016)
Could of been much better
Missing sexual tension, maybe a kiss? Something more?
Family Guy: Switch the Flip (2018)
Finally I laughed out loud
It's been a few recent seasons of very lazy writing, predictable jokes and boring plots for the most part. Granted there have been some good jokes and laughs here and there (mostly a smile tops), but then I watched this episode and absolutely laughed my ass off. Reminded me of the first seasons (and some mid seasons episodes) where I would just burst out laughing at how genius Seth and the cast can be...
Two thumbs up and hope for more!
The American (2010)
Simply put: boring.
Here is an attempt to create an artistic film, something to remind us of the kind of films made in the 60's-70's, were the hero (George Clooney in a very professional appearance) is a tough silent type, lost in his loneliness... well i'm sorry but the attempt failed misearably.
The film is so slow it makes you want to scream. Slow artistic films can also be interesting and this one is definitely not... and to top it all it's very predictable. I went to see it with a friend and we both predicted the outcome (George Clooney dies tragically) and recognised the traitor/bad guy (Johan Leysen as "Pavel")...
Two strong points though: 1 - George Clooney, very convincing, very professional, very good. 2 - Violante Placido - sensual, beautiful, good acting, looking forward to seeing her in other roles...
The Sopranos (1999)
TV Making On Another Scale
Well... easily my favourite TV series ever. Call me a walking mail cliché but include violence, mafia, sex, gambling, drugs etc. on a show and you're already winning points on in my book. Combine all that with acting that superceeds anything you've ever seen on the small screen, add directing that fits cinema of the vintage type and most of all writing that blows the mind (and a few brains a long the way) and you got yourself a show thats gonna be pretty tough to compete with.
Above all stand two actors, James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano, and Edie Falco as His wife Carmela... as for Gandolfini, he fits his roll in a way that words cannot express, if you haven't seen him as tony yet see it now!
I can go on and on and on about every character in the show, the psychological brilliance, the gripping scenes etc. but you wouldn't be able to stop me so all I can say is that this is about the only show along with Seinfeld, that I am able to watch over and over again from start to finish and end up enjoying it even more.
Lost (2004)
Lost Their Way...
What started off the freshest thing on TV in years by far, evolved into a tiresome, over dramatic, over bizarre show that you can't wait to see the end of.
The 1st season was well written, lots of suspense and mystery that kept me coming back for more. But come the 2nd season things got too weird and way over the top and by some point the writers, who really had a gem in their hands, lost their way in the plot. Twists and turns were handed to the viewers left and right, Science fiction stepped in in a Major way and you couldn't help it feel they should of done much better with it.
But there is a good discovery in "Lost" that I hope will make it to cinema or another good quality show: Evangeline Lilly who plays Kate Austin, is both beautiful & talented and is worth the watch...
Eastern Promises (2007)
A True Classic
Well I don't hand out 10's quite that easily but this film blew me away and kept me staring at the screen in awe. David Cronenberg's film has everything you could ask for in a violent, raw, dramatic & suspenseful masterpiece. Now add to that one of the best performances by an actor who proves to be extremely versatile and nothing short of brilliant, I am off course referring to Viggo Mortensen who has taken a very brave decision of playing what turned out to be a character to be remembered as "Nikolay" (I'll spare the unnecessary spoilers). Even one of my least favourite actresses, Amy Watts, does nothing to spoil this film, all thanks to Cronenberg's ability to keep her in the boundaries of the character she plays who serves as a background to Mortensens chilling portrayal. London as in many cases proved a perfect stage for this kind of story line, it's not Hollywood, no booms, no bangs, no special effects and no super stars. Instead we get a great script, fantastic dialogues, brilliant acting and a top notch director capable of putting together "Eastern Promises" - a promise well delivered.
A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006)
A surprise that blew me away
Well...I picked up this film by accident in the DVD rentals. Never heard of it, didn't really feel like watching it, popped it in the DVD machine and BAM!!! I was blown away...
It's been so many years since I last enjoyed Robrt Downey Jr. in a movie that knowing he was in this film gave me all the more reasons to expect another flop.
But from the "get go" Robert was back to his best form as the older "Dito" and along with the rest of the perfectly selected cast they deliver the atmosphere, the sounds, the feel and almost the smell of Astoria N.Y in the 80's.
The most outstanding of the cast for me would have to be Chazz Palminteri, "Dito's" father. his portrayal of the very lonely, very simple and highly affectionate "Monty" is nothing short of brilliant.
A very dynamic, very rattling great movie, well worth your time!
Big Fish (2003)
A great film!
Since Edward scissor hands, i've been kind of disappointed with Tim Burton's films. So much so that when "Big Fish" came out I didn't bother to go and see it.
4 whole years after it's release i finally saw the movie and I was overwhelmed! this is Burton in his best.
The cast is perfect in delivering a moving story about the kind of people you never see on a day to day basis... And this exactly what Tim Burton is all about.
A great film, wonderfully told story, excellent acting and a definite 10/10 for me.
