Chainsaw Man: Meowy's Whereabouts (2022)
A love letter to Fujimoto
Chainsaw Man Episode 3 is a poignant homage to its source material, capturing the essence of the manga with a solemn respect. The English voice performances breathe life into the characters, mirroring the emotional depth of the original work. The power subplot, notably featuring Meowy, unfolds with a careful adherence to the manga's intricate narrative.
The outro deserves special mention; its animation is a visual masterpiece that resonates with the somber tone of the series. Accompanied by a hauntingly beautiful song, the outro not only serves as a moment of reflection but also showcases the meticulous attention to detail in bringing Chainsaw Man to life on the screen. This episode, in its entirety, stands as a testament to the show's commitment to preserving the spirit and quality of the source material.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Metamorphosis (2023)
My new favorite episode.
I had to create my account just to leave this review thats how much I loved this. The animation in this episode for in my opinion is among its best moments. They have done more than justice to the source material. The insane moments this episode has to offer are brilliantly paced and directed. Theres a particular sequence toward the beginning with truly amazing 3D camera work. I find it hard to fault it for some of the lax background details. Some of the environment is very smooth but considering the working conditions these people are under it's nothing short of mind blowing that could accomplish this much. Yuji and Todo once again prove that THEY are the exception. Mahito's VA is a standout to me. His performance in every episode is genuinely unhinged and this episode is just that. Of course the performances are amazing all around. It's a superb episode with awesome music, stellar animation and very clever writing. Give MAPPA a round of applause. I wish I could give it an 11/10.
