Malaikottai Vaaliban (2024)
Only positive thing about the movie is Cinematography
Decided to give the movie a shot despite the haters. The cinematography was cool, but the story and dialogue were kinda meh. Mohanlal killed it, but the whole fight scene with the Dutch/Portuguese got cringy real quick. The movie dragged on for 2.5 hours, and the ending was as cliché as it gets. They tried to pull off some character bonding excuse, but spilled the main deets in the last 15 minutes.
People blaming Keralites forget that we love slow films like more than people of any other states. Here are few examples "Thanmathra", Kireedam, Chenkol, Kanmadam, "Pranchiyettan."were all accepted by people of Kerala whole heartedly. Last month, Mohanlal's "Neram" rocked, so it's not the problem with fan fights.
Now some people told me it is an Ljp movie and so watch it in that sense. There is nothing like Ljp movie. Every movie is made by some director. It's like saying you should watch a Santhosh Pandit film in a special mood.
Honestly, the director's is overrated. Only "Amen" and "Angamaly Diaries" got a nod in his entire career beginning in 2010; the rest are just flops. And these two movies happened years back. Dude needs to own up to his misses instead of blaming everyone. Like they say, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder," but this one didn't quite make the cut.
Neru (2023)
Making of the filim is good, but lacks depth: 'Neru' Shines in Execution but Falls Short on Substance"
The commendable aspect of the film lies in its noteworthy production, successfully maintaining audience captivation from start to finish. Nevertheless, the storyline unfolds without introducing distinctive twists or turns, echoing familiar narrative patterns observed in other cinematic works. The performances delivered by actors Sidhique, Mohanlal, Anaswara, and the antagonist stand out, showcasing their commendable skills.
Regrettably, the narrative feels overly simplistic, lacking innovative elements that could have added a layer of freshness to the overall plot. The absence of novel ideas gives rise to a sense of predictability, particularly evident in the storyline and climax. The viewer is left with the impression of traversing well-trodden paths, contributing to a feeling of déjà vu.
The predictability of the storyline and climax is a notable drawback, as the narrative unfolds in a manner that aligns with audience expectations rather than offering unexpected turns or revelations. This inherent predictability may leave some viewers wanting more complexity and depth in the unfolding events.
In conclusion, while the film boasts commendable production values and stands as a testament to the skillful performances of its cast, the overall experience is somewhat tempered by the straightforward and predictable nature of the storyline. Viewers seeking a single viewing with an appreciation for solid production and performances may find it a worthwhile cinematic experience, but those desiring a more intricate and novel narrative may be left yearning for a deeper exploration of storytelling possibilities.
One thing I have noted is that many scenes and the story is copied from the movie Sketch Artist 2 where the victim is a sketch artist rather than a sculpturer"
