Star Wars: The Bad Batch: The Cavalry Has Arrived (2024)
This show ends as it began, underwhelming...
I know most reviews here are extremely positive however I disagree with all of them. This finale isn't good, it's extremely safe and wastes a lot of potential it could've had at being good/great. I got nothing out of this finale other than some cool visuals and action which would be fine if there wasn't a whole season of buildup to it. It's truly upsetting because it had the potential to be so much but due to the show's issues with character building, conflict creation and making complex plot points a lot of the potential here is missed. Regardless I did enjoy watching this episode and show I just feel like it should have been so much more and should have done so much more.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Point of No Return (2024)
Very Good!
Finally another episode around the quality of episode 3! This episode had a lot of really cool stuff and overall did a great job at introducing a whole lot of new conflict! The raid on Pabu was really well done and the Empire were kinda intimidating (although still relatively incompetent in a gun fight lmao). I do think that like other episodes of the show however that there is a lack of tension even in moments that should feel tense, I also feel like once again the characters themselves really aren't the most engaging but that's fine. Overall very good episode with a few things to be desired!
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Identity Crisis (2024)
Finally Picking Back Up!
I'll be honest after episode 3 I feel like this season has been very meh in a lot of ways. I just overall feel like the storytelling, character work and writing of most episodes left a lot to be desired among other issues, however with this episode we seem to finally be getting back on track! While nothing amazing or anything and the character work is still meh the storytelling and plot developments are quite good. I think this episode had a lot of interesting aspects and was well paced. The episode also did a pretty decent job at setting up future conflicts! Overall a good episode, I hope from this point on good will be the norm!
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Bad Territory (2024)
This show is too inconsistent.
Sometimes an episode will be filled with plot, character moments and awesome stuff other times an episode will be tedious, have minimal character work and be the 15th monster fighting episode, unfortunately this one is the latter. Honestly I just wish we could get more episodes like the first and third of this season, episodes that while nothing spectacular are able to develop characters well and move the plot in a nice fashion. It's upsetting that the halfway point of the season is an episode like this, you'd think due to being near the end of the show we'd be consistently be getting the good stuff but we haven't. Hopefully the next episode is better.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Extraction (2024)
A episode that could've been very good but it's held back by ONE scene.
Overall I will say that this episode is pretty good, the character work is good and it's less awkwardly told than last episode. I want to highlight the waterfall fight scene with Crosshair which was actually very cool! I also am happy to see Wolf again and hope we'll see him eventually join Rex's team especially since we see them together in Rebels. Considering all these things you'd think I'd say this is a very good episode however one scene holds it back from being a 7-8/10... The scene I'm talking about is the one where Wolf let's the heroes get away. I don't take issue with him letting them go but I do take issue with the fact that none of Wolf's fellow soldiers didn't try and do something I get he's their leader but capturing Omega is an extremely high priority for Hemlock and the Empire knows this. If this scene didn't exist I would've rated this episode higher.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Infiltration (2024)
A good buildup episode, that at points felt a tad bit awkward.
As whole I think this is a pretty good buildup episode. It not only reintroduces several characters and introduces a plotline but also sets things in motion for said plotline. I think that overall it was well executed, had good character moments and decent conflicts. However at times the episode did come across as almost awkward from a storytelling perspective I feel, it might just be me but I definitely felt that. Again though as a whole it's pretty good and sets up a good climax for episode 7 to handle and I am intrigued to see where this all goes, hopefully the season can truly hit it's stride now.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: The Return (2024)
An improvement over the last episode to be sure, and all around a fairly good episode!
It was pretty decent and definitely an improvement over EP4. I liked some of the character building and revisiting the snow base was really cool and I honestly found some of the Crosshair stuff kinda emotional. I definitely felt like the character building whilst nothing great did it's job and made the episode engaging enough. I do have a few issues one being the fact that this is yet ANOTHER monster fighting episode, I also didn't feel that much tension from the actual battle it's self despite it being decent. Overall a pretty decent episode that hopefully sets up some great stuff! 6.5/10 I am interested to see more.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: A Different Approach (2024)
Honestly probably the weakest season 3 episode so far.
This episode is very similar to episode 2 in the way that it tackles a more mundane part of the story in a mundane way. This episode could've further explored Omega, Crosshair and their dynamic and whilst it did slightly it could've been explore more in my opinion or at least create more intriguing conflicts. I think the issues with this episode sort of show of one of the entire show's main issues which is the fact that it's pretty good at big plotbeats and episodes but struggles with the things in between those. Hopefully this and episode 2 are flukes and the rest of the season is better but judging from the past two seasons I am not entirely sure...
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Shadows of Tantiss (2024)
A good episode that sets a lot of future things up.
I think as a whole this episode is quite good, lot's of tension, stakes and emotions, seeing Palpatine was awesome and the overall feel of Tantiss is even more cool than ever before! I liked how some of the things used to escape were foreshadowed. I do have a few issues with it. Mainly I feel the lack of security surrounding Omega and Crosshair is a bit weird and doesn't make a lot of sense, why wouldn't Omega be constantly monitored at the very least? Also overall the shootouts aren't anything awesome but that's more a nitpick than anything. Regardless just a really solid episode, excited to see more!
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Paths Unknown (2024)
Not a bad episode, but one that still shows that the show's weakest link is still the Bad Batch itself (or at least what's left of it; being Wrecker and Hunter)
I would hesitate to call this a bad episode however it's definitely a weak one. Whilst not being filler it's still another monster fighting side quest episode with little character building, at least little character building for the main characters. I found that the whole plot with the kids was pretty cliche (not that being cliche is inherently bad or anything) and was quite predictable (which also isn't inherently bad but this episode didn't have much going for it). I get that episodes like this are sort of necessary for the plot of this season however I feel like it could've been done in a far more meaningful way, I didn't get attached to these kids and Hunter and especially Wrecker still leave a bit to be desired in terms of character. All this being said I do think that the whole Sarlacc thing was pretty cool.
Overall just a pretty mid episode.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Confined (2024)
A good continuation of the second season.
After a very good season finale that set up a lot of potential for the show I am happy to say that as a continuation this is pretty good! The focus on environment building, setting up intriguing questions and Omega is refreshing for the show. It's definitely a bit of a slower burn but I appreciate that. Only reason this is just a good episode is because it doesn't really do anything that is particularly outstanding or anything, which is fine but I would've appreciated some more character building on other characters as well maybe. Overall though this is a pretty good introduction to the season!
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
I have always loved Star Wars but this is bad, to an embarrassing degree.
I honestly don't know how anybody could likes this, the writing is atrocious, the visuals are bland, the directing is poor, the camera is constantly shaking, all of it is just so bad. It's sad because there was potential here to make something truly great with the right writers and directors unfortunately things did not work out and we're stuck with this. This show quite frankly has so many moments that re just truly bizarre from a writing perspective and has some of the most unintentionally ridiculous scenes I've ever seen. Overall this show is just extremely poor and I just can't believe how a billion dollar company let something this poor get made.
