Grindhouse at It's Best in 2024
7 March 2024
I saw the short film, Honeymoon at Cold Hollow, at the 2024 Nevermore Film Festival. I can't express just how much I loved this film.

It was shot as if it were done so in the early 1970's. The acting is excellent and the score is just perfect. I have watched it a multitude of times to hear the score and to pick out the time-appropriate artifacts.

I would love to see how the writing would be in a feature film and what context would be added. For instance, the male lead character in the film snaps at the female lead character in one of the initial scene providing insight into who this guys is and how he treats his new bride.

It's a brilliant concept and I pray that it gets created into a feature film.

Such a beautiful and original film

I just saw Dr. Sanders Sleep Cure today at the 25th Annual Nevermore Film Festival in Durham, NC.

From the outset, the film was compelling with beautifully shot scenes, original quirky artifacts, and brilliantly acted roles. The director, Martin Sander, appears in the film forty-eight times in distinct roles. I loved the stylistic uniqueness that Martin brings to the film.

It's a charmingly soothing film with hints of Stanley Kubrick, from my perspective, and is complemented with well-timed bits of humor and subtle horror.

I can't recommend this film enough, especially if you are longing for art that harkens back to the era of cinema escapism in all its lovely aura.
