Movies I own, in order of how much I enjoy and recommend them!

The order is based on many factors, and let's face it, you can NEVER really put your favorite movies (or at least, the ones you OWN) in order! But I gave it a shot based on timelessness, story, intrigue, rewatchability... also whether or not I think people have heard of the movie, if it is underrated or just overlooked. The likelihood of my plugging in the movie if a friend came over, pulled it off the shelf and said "I've never seen this."
---
Also, for me, movies like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Indiana Jones would just claim the front of the list as their own. I moved most of them down to mix up the order a little. Fret not fellow nerds.
---
I also tend to rate movies in their own genre, and also what is expected of them. Not everything is Lawrence of Arabia or Jurassic Park, but that doesn't mean it's terrible. Even if it's cheesy, was it entertaining? How much more really could have been expected of it given the subject matter? Action, Zombie or even Godzilla movies don't need inspired acting to be fantastic. Horror movies don't always have the best story, but they can be jaw dropping. My numerical ratings are also a layered result.

Zombie movies I own, in order of much I recommend them!

I love zombie cinema.
The very thought of the walking, hungry undead has terrorized me since I was a child. I believe it all started when I saw a zombie movie when I was too young to process it as morbid entertainment. Intense nightmares about the shuffling cannibalistic corpses granted me night terrors for years to come. Weekly, and sometimes more often than that, a vivid and gruesome zombie nightmare would demolish a good night's sleep.
Now that I'm older, I go nuts for zombie movies. Perhaps it is a coping mechanism, a response to terror nestled in childhood. For years I avoided zombie movies, now I host parties to showcase them.
I will go ahead and say that my favorite type of zombie movies include the "shufflers", that is, zombies that move very slowly. These movies seem to have a lot more tension, it doesn't matter that you move more quickly than the plodding undead, they are going to get you in any case.
Then, I enjoy the "shambler" zombies. These are the type found in The Walking Dead. They don't walk, they don't run, it's something in-between. In some cases it even appears to be bursts of speed or vigor.
Last, there are the "sprinter" undead. These zombies run. Although I find them terrifying (because I'm not the best runner in any competition) something about their quickness sets them apart from other zombie cinema. There's a lack of tension. There's a lack of suspense and overwhelming odds, you are denied the opportunity to board up your windows and flip a table over to bar the door. The survivors must only outrun these undead, and something about that is less entertaining to me. However, I love 28 Days Later and even its less grand sequel 28 Weeks Later*, perhaps because they present a zombie movie wish a breath of fresh air, a breath utilized to sprint at Olympian speed.
