Walker (2021)
SOOOOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED!
I really wanted to like this. I'm partway through ep. 5 and I've had to force myself to get through each one. I keep thinking that maybe it will get better but it doesn't. It has some good elements but they are just badly put together. The acting is uneven at best, but it probably has more to do with the crap dialog the actors are given. Even though I struggle to get through each episode, I can't quite bring myself to cancel the recording for each week. I'm not sure if that makes me masochistic, optimistic, or just a fan of trainwrecks...
Heart and Souls (1993)
What a wonderful movie!!
I absolutely love this movie! Just caught part of it again by accident as I was flipping channels, and I just feel so good right now. I gave it a 10/10, not because it's artistically or technically or dramatically special -- it just makes you feel wonderful! The acting is great, especially Robert Downey, Jr. as he assumes the "identity" of each of his 4 ghost friends, but everyone is just a joy to watch. The movie is filled with all good-hearted people. I can't understand why it doesn't have a higher rating on IMDb. I recognize it's not earth-shattering movie-making, but it's just such a sweet, happy movie, and ya know, what's wrong with that? We need those types of movies as much as we need more artistically strong movies such as "The Godfather" and "No Country for Old Men." If you get the chance, watch this. You'll be humming and feel great when it's over.
Supernatural: Route 666 (2006)
Cassie...(contains spoilers about future episodes of the show, not this episode)
Overall, I liked this episode. I don't agree with many of the posters that this is too preachy RE: the racial issues. I actually thought it handled that issue well. The time that the original murders were to have taken place, the behaviors described were unfortunately happening in some places, usually with the law turning a blind eye on the white perpetrators against the minority victims. The only problem I have with this episode is Cassie! As a number of people have noted, she was attractive. That's where her contribution ends, in my opinion. She was a terrible actress: she was screechy, and she over-acted in every scene. Every line had such emphasis. Also, she had no chemistry with Dean. He did -- he's great at showing just the right balance of emotion and restraint, and "Dean" clearly felt for her, wanted her, and their time together obviously meant a lot to him. She, well, she was just plain bad. I agree that I would have liked her character to return in future eps, but played by a better actress. Lisa, in later episodes, was MUCH BETTER!
Mitch Albom's For One More Day (2007)
trite drivel
Contrived, poorly written, clichéd, Too-important-for-itself. Kept watching in case there was something redeeming, but there wasn't. Ellen B's acting was superb, as always, and she is aging so gracefully. Really have nothing better to say. Unfortunate. I'm usually a sucker for these things and was really looking forward to it. I wasn't a fan of "5 People...," also felt it seemed too important for itself -- trying too hard to deliver a message, while lacking a story to do so. This however, I had higher hopes for. The previews intrigued me, the actors intrigued me, and as I said, I usually like this kinda stuff. Very disappointing.
