Coma (2024)
7/10
Decent drama
13 April 2024
Firstly I read some other reviews just now before posting this. Some are very harsh and I think many people just expect too much. This obviously isn't going to be a big budget BBC or ITV drama, it's channel 5. Not saying it should get a free pass but the cast and crew are working on a different scale so it should be kept in mind when reviewing.

Like others I'm a big fan of Jason Watkins and he can't turn in a bad performance in my view. This show has an intriguing premise and as time goes on it does get a big bogged down in stereotypical gangster stuff but it has some decent twists and turns. A solid seven from me.

Heat (2023– )
8/10
Enjoyable drama down under
13 April 2024
I went into this with no expectations which is a good way to approach a channel 5 drama. I have to say it got me hooked and I happily bashed through this in one sitting (admittedly with a bottle of wine and cheese platter).

Its one of those disaster-is-coming shows and in this case a bushfire. Im not sure how accurate it would be in real like for all those people to get trapped but I'm not Australian so I'll go with it. Suffice to say all sorts of subplots begin to crossover, sometimes in a predictable way but there's also a really big creepy shock. The best episode is definitely the end and you know it's going to go badly for someone.

Scoop (2024)
8/10
Good likeness to the real people

Like most people on the planet I was shocked by the real Prince Andrew interview that this is based on. Talk about an entitled idiot. Maybe he is innocent, who knows, but the interview did him no favours.

I was also a bit shocked to see a tv drama based on the interview crop up. I guess they'll make a show out of anything these days but is this movie really worth it? Okay so the positives about this are all in the make up and hair departments and performances - Andrew and Emily Maitlands portrayers are note perfect. I had to google a photo of the real actors to check that they weren't lookalikes. No, clever work behind the scenes.

As for the rest of it... the short answer is no. Not really any revelations but I'm scoring it highly for the above reasons, awards will follow.
