Marie Antoinette (2022)
Bad camera work
Beautiful story, beautiful location but a typical BBC budget with no money to pay for experienced camera technicians who are given the time schedule to cover a scene well using tripod, tracking or Steadicam shots but rely on hand held for a quick turn around on covering a scene. Working at these sorts of speeds in available light must have been murder for the first camera assistant (focus puller) trying to keep the shots in focus.
The poor actors normally struggle with this speed of shooting situation coping with their scripted words, I bet there was very little rehearsal time.
I have been a camera operator for forty years and feel that it is such a shame that this production has allowed such a mistake.
Hostage House (2021)
What a waste of my time and money
Just so long and boring with the usual plinky-plonk music playing in the background throughout also filmed in the usual Netflix night time setting (to save employing electricians and generators) with some scenes so dark you need a moving arrow to show who is talking, why not have the film shorter with the action taking place in daytime.
ABBA: The Movie (1977)
Steadicam early use
The Steadicam footage in the film was done by camera operators Ted Churchill and Ray Andrew (The Shining).
The War Bride (2001)
The vicar was ........
Did you know, the vicar was played by retired Steadicam camera operator Ray Andrew who did Kubrick's THE SHINING '.
